I agree, it has improved. Earlier today I was getting time-outs on page loads. Now it's fine.

Much better here now too.

Still slow - the page is still loading while I write this. About 30 seconds...

PostPosted: Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:31 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Still extremely wobbly - very fast one moment, but stuck and not responding until timeout only a few seconds later.

PostPosted: Fri Nov 05, 2010 9:31 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

... and it again was erratic a few minutes ago. Crying or Very sad

PostPosted: Fri Nov 05, 2010 9:45 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

I don't know if it's because the forum runs on different virtual cloud servers, but I keep having to log in again about once a day. It's really annoying as my point of entry to the forum is the new posts search.

PostPosted: Fri Nov 05, 2010 10:15 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Sad Yes sloooow loading again

PostPosted: Fri Nov 05, 2010 10:26 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

If it is cloud served, it positively will be a issue with our software or configuration only - a distributed server architecture with such a hardware or network fault would create the same problem on a gazillion of client servers, which would generate a lot of bad publicity

Slow again

Yes, but only the "initial loading" if you know what I mean. Once it starts it's fast.
It's as if the Ping is slow but bandwidth is broad.

PostPosted: Fri Nov 05, 2010 12:57 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Very slow here too. Carsten, it's not a question of ping, what I guess is happening is that IO is oversaturated, so the DB takes quite a bit of time before managing to gather all the data needed to render the page. Once that is done, bytes are sent quickly to your browsers.

Edit: the problems are 100% database related, I just got this error message when trying to reply to a thread

Code:
Error in posting

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 2006 MySQL server has gone away

INSERT INTO phpbb_posts (topic_id, forum_id, poster_id, post_username, post_time, poster_ip, enable_bbcode, enable_html, enable_smilies, enable_sig) VALUES (25643, 22, 1922, '', 1288963444, '5e8d1a33', 1, 1, 1, 1)

Line : 240
File : functions_post.php

meaning the database was so slow the connection timed out.

Migrated second times, hopefully to a less busy server and nightmare is over, finger crossed.
