Click here to see on Ebay
I am very interested in this lens...has anyone used it? How does it compare to other 300s.Thanks
It's a bit pricey but I don't mind if it is a better than average lens.

Looks like the old Adaptamatic 300 F5.6

http://www.adaptall-2.com/lenses/670Au.html

I would not expect wonders of it.....

Last week i took up a sample of this Tammy at the rather ridiculous price of € 5 .

It is indeed not a lens to expect miracles but at it's age it produces nice pictures

Example in not-so-good-lighting-conditions

crop

Hi
I've got one of those lense
http://323i.e30.free.fr/galerie/MF/
http://323i.e30.free.fr/galerie/MF/Tamron/index2.htm
here is a croped picture (EOS 350D)

Very easy to use, has some CA and lakes a litlle of sharpness.
Do not expect fabulous performances of it, but it is a good lens.
The SP that follows is far better

The one from eBay is in mint conditions, a collector. But do not pay too much for it

Could do worse - it's not a piece of crap, but it's not worth any more than the start price, really.

I have that one (as I do all the Tamron Adaptamatics, save one).

Its my default 300mm. I do like it a lot, because of its reliable output and light weight. Its a very well made and handsome piece as well.

Its not worth more than the asking price, which may be on the high end of reasonable for this as it is.

I picked mine up for £20.00, but wasn't too impressed, so sold it on. Not sure if I had a duff copy. The SP is a nicer lens, but far more expensive.

I have an old Soligor 300/5.6 with a serial number beginning with an 'H', and that is a superb lens and pretty cheap too Smile

Yes I don't want to pay more than the $50 start price plus postage takes it to just over $60au.I may sit on it and see if it will be relisted...a gamble but sometimes it works. Then again most people buy just because it says Tamron. It looks not to bad on the Duck crop.

I am waiting for the film to be developed from the Astronar 300 that I picked up recently.

One good lens is better than many garbage Mo-Fo , wait for a Pentax 300mm M42 lens that is no too expensive going around 200 USD and far better than any other noname and FAST 300mm f4 good for birding.

Another tip if you need cheap and excellent one Tair 300mm f4.5 older one not photo sniper edition.

Luis handle masterly old lenses like this Tamron , but not many of us able to produce quality images like Luis with these old cheap Japanese lenses.

Thanks Attila
There have been a few Pentax's/Takumars of some sort from 200mm to 500mm lately on oz bay
Just missed a Pentax 300 went for under $200au.The waiting game may be the best way to go...eventually the lens you want comes along.Maybe I should just save for a DSLR first Rolling Eyes

Laughing Yes, DSLR better choice for tele-shooting anyway. Think about Panasonic G1 what I have , on used market an mint copy go around 300 USD and almost any lens is mountable, but no wide angle shooting due 2x crop factor. My practice keep film for wide angle, infinity shooting. I still rate higher a good film camera + slide than any affordable DSLR even full frame 5D etc for all other purposes I use digital.

He's right, you know. You really should just forget all of these $50 lenses and save up and buy a Canon 300 f2.8 Fluorite instead. Very Happy I mean, look at the results... http://forum.mflenses.com/canon-300-f2-8-fluorite-eos-5d-markii-t26853.html Shocked

That is an 5D-2 + Stan this combo produce equal result with any lens even with 30 USD ones , same case than Luis. Proper technic including post processing can do magic.

I have the Tamron Adaptall-2 300mm F5.6 and it's an amazing lens for the price. Sharp, small & light.

I did have some images back in December in the MF gallery of a robin. Or they can be seen here http://www.ms-imaging.co.uk/Birds/Other-Birds/5626305_AvWuv (look for the images with the robin on the blue background, the ones on the green were taken with a Canon 70-200 F4L for comparison).
