I think the C on your Lentar indicates Cimko. A diamond outline reference mark for the distance and aperture scales is another Cimko characteristic. |
Yes, a hollow-inset diamond is indeed there. Thanks! _________________ Too many film+digi cams+lenses, oh my -- Pentax K20D, K-1000, M42s, more

Thank you Bob. There is a lengthening list of lens brands with the "H" serial number prefix, shown in earlier posts in this thread, with different manufacturers. "H" means Hoya has been proposed, that Hoya subcontracted several manufacturers to fulfill Allied Impex orders. _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

I think we may be agreeing here.
I wrote: ""H" means Hoya has been proposed, that Hoya subcontracted several manufacturers to fulfill Allied Impex orders."
and: "Re: 'H' serial number prefixes
I wonder if the 'H' stands for Hoya, that Allied Impex subcontracted Hoya who then subcontracted with various manufacturers Sun, Komine, Tokina, etc.? Could explain the many manufacturers and brands of 'H' serial prefix lenses."

No real evidence yet. Just a theory so far, but it does make sense.
But we can say for sure that H doesn't mean Tokina.
I have a Komine made Soligor that has the H on it. It's interesting to note that the Soligor Komine code is 6. Mine is H6.
This thread really should have a disclamer. Work in Progress information listed may change as new evidence is found. _________________

What struck me about this one, is that forward of the focus grip, the lens barrel makes a step inward, whereas without exception, every other 28/2.8 pictured in this thread is either straight, or makes a step outward. _________________ Sigma DP1, Nikon D40 (hers ), Polaroid x530, Pentax P30t, Pentax P50, (P30t/P50 K-A to Nikon F body mount conversion)

You don't know what it is. So I'm guessing you got it cheap. Soligor had a series of lenses around 1974-1975 that were this style. I call them there high dollar series.
They were fast lenses. Sizes I know of were 28/2, 85 1/5, 105 2/8, 135/2,
200 2/8.
Your lens was made in 1974 by Tokina. code 1= Tokina 74= 1974.
This is one of the lenses that dosen't look like the normal Tokinas.
1974 lenses had the chrome top edge to the lens. 1975 went to all black.
I've seen these lenses listed on Ebay from this series in the USD $200 to $400 plus range, but I havent tracked actual sales to know the real price. _________________

That 300mm looks in general like the Tokina-made 300mm, and is even an f/5.5, but it isn't that Tokina. This one is much less common. I had one just like this under the Kalimar brand in Auto-T mount. All the dimensions don't compare with the real Tokina-made 300/5.5

I updated the list.
That lens actually has alot of the same styling as the 400 6.3.

Did you see seller's other items?(!) The Soligor looks to be identical with his Vivitar 6.3/400, except for mount. _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

I have a 28mm f2
So this is a Tokina?
|
Thx mate! That's great news, indeed
I paid 63 GBP (about 98 USD) for this lens in very good shape. I am happy with booth the lens and the price _________________ Lars | Manuellfokus.no |

Sun? A photo of lens would be helpful. |

Here's a shot taken in my garden today with this lens @ f11 on a Canon EOS 10D. Not too bad a performer imho.

I missed that.
What really makes his lens different from any I've seen Is the diamond marker for the apeture. It's hollow not filled. Also look at the crop below.
The lines don't slant out at the bottom. Not typical Tokina at all.
