Sorry guys, never seen or even heard of a Helios 44 for rangefinder. I think this is a Helios 44 for START-Mount, produced from 1958 to 1964.
I'm not sure about the meaning of the serial number. Perhaps a pre- oder special series (normally marked with "0..." someone told me). Or START stuff simply started with 0?

Just going from memory, I think the Exakta external auto diaphragm system began around 1954. Even preset diaphragms, I think, don't go back farther than about 1950-51. |

Thanks. Were you able to find an adapter for it, or did you just hold it in front of your camera? How would you say it compares to the later Helios-44 models? _________________ Sigma DP1, Nikon D40 (hers ), Polaroid x530, Pentax P30t, Pentax P50, (P30t/P50 K-A to Nikon F body mount conversion)
