I need to see some comparisons of 300mm and up lenses preferably in the M42 mount or PK.I have some but I would just like to see what other lens brands that are out there can do.
I have a Soligor T4 90-230,Auto Promura 300mm,Astronar 300mm,and a Prinz galaxy 400mm (that I forgot about Embarassed )
But I would like to buy at least one decent/well know performer in this range.
So please share your best images or your findings of any of these 300mm+ lenses....

ManualFocus-G did an excellent comparison of 300mm lenses, focusing on CA, covering the following lenses:
* Sankor 300/4.5
* MC Rubinar 300/4.5 mirror
* Tamron Adaptall 2 75-250/3.8-4.5
* Soligor 300/5.5
* Chinon 300/5.6 mirror
* Tamron SP 60-300/3.8-5.4
* Tamron SP 300/5.6
There are lots of 100% crops, so I highly recommend you check it out:

Otherwise, I've been quite happy with my Aetna Rokunar 300/5.6

ISO 400, 1/400 second, f/8:

100% crop at ISO 800, 1/200 second, f/8: (note that ISO 800 is pretty noisy on the D40...)

ISO 400, 1/250 second, f/11:

My lens seems to be a derivative of the early Auto Tamron lenses, but with a bit different specifications. As far as I can tell, I seem to have the only one in existence. Very Happy

It's because you are special!...seriously thanks I will check out those links.I have toyed with the idea of buying the Auto Tamron 300mm the last three times I have seen it.
PS looks like the All Blacks are going down to Australia Sad Sad

There are at least two Wink:

Nice lens. Sharp. Not as sharp as S-M-C Takumar 4/300. I think the Spiratone Sharpshooter 6.3/400 is sharper, not much.
