I think it is just the older versions that are free.. but it might turn out to be an excellent way to get people to try their software, which could very well lead to more sales of the current version. _________________ Sigma DP1, Nikon D40 (hers ), Polaroid x530, Pentax P30t, Pentax P50, (P30t/P50 K-A to Nikon F body mount conversion)

I use it mainly for retouching the scratches/dust on the scans and for reducing the grain . It works wery well . It supports the BMP files , if that is important for somebody . _________________ Cheers , Teo

Interesting ....
Looks like it uses a modified version of DCRAW for raw processing?
So it has support for Sigma X3F....
Unfortunately I can't get it run under WINE in linux... anyone else given this a go?
What it's RAW processing like?
I know Sigma Photo Pro probably still produces the best results, but I'm seriously getting sick of it's slowness. Even on a Dual processor, core 2 duo workstation it gets annoying.
Would be nice to have something for quick processing that doesn't need to be the best quality (family snaps etc)... |

+1 !!!
What you need is a very fast harddisk. This accelerates things a little.
But still, it's sloooooow compared to other software. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

I already have a couple of 15K scsi disks.... I have been seriously considering going for a small Solid State Drive now that they've come down in price a little and are a little more reliable and better at random IOPS.
I mean it produces great results, but SPP is painfully slow and some feature implementations are so damn annoying like "colour adjustment" ie white balance.
Anyway bit off topic.. I'm only running ubuntu so wine package is likely a little older.. might have to roll up my sleeves and try compiling a more recent version to give helicon a go. Or XP Virtual box or something ...
The next developer to come up with a decent X3F RAW converter will honestly be my hero |
