The poor fool will never learn - check out the "OPTICALLY PERFECT" scratches or fungus, or possibly both on the Biotar in this auction...

And then, absorb the beauty that is his feedback situation at the moment - wonder when it'll be time for a new username for Keith...Laughing Rolling Eyes Laughing

I'd buy it except he's banned me from his auctions - just think of the fun I could have had with feedback when I 'discovered' that the lens is not, in fact, OPTICALLY PERFECT Twisted Evil Laughing Twisted Evil

I have bought two lenses from this seller - both with OILY BLADES. No answer .. Buyer:varanaslt

Item OK When Listed

Neat trick, that. Just how does a lens go from perfect to oily in the post? Is there a secret undercover squad of posties who ferret out old lenses and squirt oil in them? I think we should be told.

Mr Rock seems to have a habit of not refunding after promising to do so. If the item you have purchased from him is not as described and is not of great value, then rather than go through the whole tedious returns procedure, when normally messages are ignored, money is not refunded as promised , he says he never received return etc, another path of recourse may be available. It is not against ebay rules to state in your item description the business from where it was purchased, e.g TV bought from argos last month. You are also allowed to reproduce the item description. So, If you have a faulty item purchased from Mr Rock and you feel you may not get any satisfaction going through the normal process, why not list it for sale on ebay. An example could be:Title; "Pentax Standard Lens, not very good." Description; Offered for sale is a pentax standard lens, purchased by myself from FERNDOWNCAMERAS. Described by them as being optically perfect and in pristine condition, in my opinion it is badly scratched and heavily used. If you believe the description by FERNDOWNCAMERAS then it is worth a bid. If you believe my description dont bother. You list it for as long as possible with a ridiculous reserve price so it is never sold, then repeat as necessary. It will cost a few pounds perhaps, but I'm sure this would be money well spent to a lot of people who have had dealings with Mr Rock.
There are many variations to this suggestion, the more bad impressions that can be left about Mr Rock the better.

Ha ha ha

My pastiche of an ad that might have been placed by our friend was well received here.. and no-one bid Sad It was of course a great pile of doo doos but that never seems to deter our mate from putting up something for sale.. and at least my pictures showed quite clearly that my =OPT PERFECT= item was in fact anything but... lol

Sadly , you can list anything about him , nothing will works.

1) New buyers will always come
2) People love to buy super cheap "pristine items" , Rocky offer boths...

People rare start to think about why an item so cheap, they just take it ...

So Keith will survive everything he need to earn money not just spend to buy and list them for nothing. One of the source of his income to not refund money.

I agree in principle with what you're saying Attila, but we should never stop keeping people informed of Mr Rock's exceedingly dodgy business practices and complete lack of ethics. It would be a grave disservice to the members of our community if we didn't let them know.

Oh, look what I just found - 99.4% and 33 Neutral/Negative Feedbacks since February 2009 - click through to read some of his comments. There's nothing particularly new, I just love the fact that so many people on eBay could be out to scam poor old Keith by claiming that the goods he sent were in some way different to his descriptions Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil

I am afraid 99% of them read only after scam this post. Goal of this forum to inform people, we have to do it right.

Well, it's quite obvious that the 'official' channels of eBay and PayPal couldn't care less about what this con-man gets up to, and have done nothing at all about his identity-hopping. My view is that anything we can say or do - even retrospectively - is better than saying/doing nothing at all.

Why do you think I'm ignorant Attila?

Is it because I give a damn about educating a community about Keith Rock's ways???

Or is it because you think I'm ignorant to the way business is done by eBay / PayPal???

I didn't think you are ignorant. I would like to explain I like if people warn to each other for important things and care about each other. This misunderstanding did surprise me as well.

Keith appears to have gone over to "Private Listings". Some of the pros and cons of this method of selling are given here....

The Ferndown Feedback F**ker is down again - just sent him an email copying him in on this thread; I'm sure he'll take solace from some of the comments...

Hi all, reading this cool thread I just couldn't not to join! It is kinda funny how one thief from Ebay can actually unite people around the net! I came accross his website here, check this out
Link
Funny as hell! He even gives his phone number which probably is some switchboard on a remote pacific island and he's charging you 50 quid per minute Wink
I had occasion to do the bussiness with this dodgy individual just once. It took him bloody 4 weeks to ship 1.2kg parcel from UK to Ireland but that wasn't all of course. Yashica Electro AX I bought was not OPTICALLY PERFECT, actually it was half working Wink. As I only use mechanical cameras anyway so it was not a big deal for me but I just hate to be fulled by some average joe. The bottom line was that I got half of my full payment back (around 10$) and I kept the camera. I contacted that tool with this idea and although I was called extorsionist I got what I wanted. What is really annoying me is the fact that Ebay won't do a thing about this a-class a-hole because he generates a lot of profit. I just wonder what's gonna be next alter-ego of our favourite Keith R.
Best regs
Greg
p.s. No idea why the link does not work: just try rockycameras in google and enjoy!

Seems like our chameleon rogue-trader Keith Rock may well be on the move again - he's only got 5 items listed now. They're all BINs - Hasselblad, Leica and Mamiya - so perhaps he's preparing to change identity and start all over again.

Let's get the Sherlock Holmes kits dusted off and keep tabs on this goatherd Wink

Seems fitting that this is my 666th post Twisted Evil

He's back - yippee!!!

Must have been on holiday/vacation - but thankfully those Negative Feedbacks don't take time off - he's managed 60 in 6 months, which must be some sort of record Laughing

But, in all seriousness, it's a shameful and disgraceful performance record for anybody to have...

PostPosted: Fri Aug 21, 2009 4:19 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

There's new performance rules now, I believe, which could mean a temporary ban if he keeps going at this rate Shocked

Have a look at account
astroboy701

and see if you can count how many mutual feedbacks exist between this account and 'ferndowncameras'.

There are hundreds of them, all the same, going right back through all the previous incarnations of 'ferndowncameras'.

D'you think those clever chaps at eBay have worked out yet what's going on?

Keith Rock is a 5th volume seller on Ebay, he pay lot of commission to Ebay. Surely everything is works to him. He just solve people's dream: to buy cheaply. Almost all people will buy from him due buyers on Ebay mostly look only bargain nothing else. They don't think about how a seller permanently able to sell on very low prices. Keith not significantly worst than those people who buy only for nothing... I had a very sad moment in local photo shop. A very old guy brought his most loved equipments to sell, shop assistant did purchase them for a few bucks only , because "nice" buyers won't pay just a few bucks too for his cameras and lenses. I think very nasty to own $$$$ camera bodies and say 50-100 USD is expensive for any legacy equipments. When I see any lenses or cameras for a few bucks only I always see in my mind this old guy face and his pain.
