In all seriousness, eBay really do need to look into this guy's lack of ethics and dodgy business practices. They purport to run a business, but if that sort of thing was happening in the 'real' world, and they were allowing it, they'd have a ton of bricks come crashing down on them.
It doesn't come as any surprise that Mr Rock may (or may not - just for the record), be buying from himself in order to inflate his status - seems like there's no barrel too deep for him, nor no avenue he won't explore when it comes to his very obviously nefarious business practices... _________________

Hi everyone,
my name is Grace and this is my first post here. I hope that here I will get any suggestions from other users, who will tell me what to do in this particular situation.
I bought a lens for my 16 y.o. son, who picked up this particular one. When he took a closer look at the lens he said that it had some spots inside. I showed the lens to the professional service man, and he said that there was mold inside, and the lens should be open and cleaned professionally. The costs of cleaning highly overweight the cost of buying.
I turned to the buyer with the complain, but he was unkind and eventually stopped writing me back.
I really am in a dilemma and do not know what to do.
I have been thinking of returning the lens to the seller, however, I am afraid I will not get my money back, because such thing has already happen to other buyers.
I haven't sent negative feedback to the seller yet, maybe he will respond to my request.
I am writing here, because in previous posts other forum's members worn everybody that the seller is a liar.He has been changing his e-bay
names, so as to avoid any responsibilities.
The lens is Tamron SP 70-210 1:3.5. The sellers name was rocky camera.
Thank you in advance for your help _________________ Cheers, Grace |

Wait before releasing a negative. As first thing open an Ebay/Paypal dispute and describe what happened, asking for a refund. Do it immediately.

Thank you Attila, thank you all for the comments. The price was $57, shipping $18, auction number 110349930455 . I didn't want to write this earlier, because other forum member Voytek states that I bought lens which is still his property. Look at http://forum.mflenses.com/ebay-seller-member446885-keith-rock-t8182,start,30.html .
I am confused. If this is Voytek's lens what should I do? I have only few days to do something since I bough this lens 35 days ago. I tried to find some information searching www, and this is why I am here. Can somebody help me and tell me what to do? _________________ Cheers, Grace |

Difficult to say what is best in this case. Claim at Paypal looks good idea , but you need to send lens back to seller. Voytek did it without result he has no money and no lens ... I think you will be second if you follow this way. If I am in your case I keep lens and enjoy without any cleaning.
If you store properly (under 50% humidity) fungus will never impact picture quality (perhaps 30 yrs later). You should support Voytek in his fight, but never send lens back to seller. Don't need to make same mistake twice.
Rocky sell lot of items for next to nothing , I expect you bought also on low price. Make a compromise with yourself no "free bread" out there.
I bought many items from Rocky without trouble and I bought some with trouble. I get all of them so much under market value so I priced this into my purchases.
Surely unacceptable what did happen with Voytek and with many other buyers, till he able to sell tons of items on low prices it will not change. He is 5th of sellers who is sell large volume on Ebay. Ebay and Paypal never be stand behind buyers in this case I think. _________________ -------------------------------

Hi Grace. I am very glad you posted your trouble with this seller here. I think that I found solution for you. But first I would ask you to confirm am I right.
1. The lens serial number is 402507
2. With lens was delivered:
a/ Tamron case with additional sponge padding (gray color)
b/ UV filter made by Hoya, filter is in bad condition.
No adapter AD2, no front and rear cup was attached
The serial number of the lens you can find in this place, marked with green line
If you will look through the lens you can see the fungus patches as at this photo
Center an the left side- view of inner lens elements. Right - EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) briefly - basic data about image.
Date and time marked with green line - when the photo was taken - October 27.2008, 11:05PM
Date and time marked with red line - when the photo was converted to TIFF format - October 29.2008, 9:33PM
I took above and 3 other pictures of fungus spots inside the lens when I made decision to make complain to the seller.
Now about my idea to solve your problem:
I am sure that you lens has serial number as above. Then I need this one to prepare new complain to ebay and paypal and also to make complain to VISA
I can buy this lens from you for amount you paid to the seller and cover cost of shipping plus insurance, handling, etc., from your address to my address.
I can also exchange your lens for the lens I pictured. This is other 19AH Tamron, but mine is flawless optically and mechanically. I will give you also original Tamron bayonet hood for this lens and original front and rear Tamron cups. You can keep Hoya filter and Tamron case. Along with posting this message I am sending you Private Message with my phone number and email address. You can help me to shot down this liar, thief, and hustler _________________ Cheers, Voytek |

Eeek! I wish I'd taken the time to read this before making purchases the other week...! Saying that, I made only very low value purchases.
Have to say, he posted quickly and packages his stuff VERY well. Received 4 x lenses, 2 as described and 2 with fungus. I sent one back a while ago and no refund yet...will chase today (I had totally forgotten). The other was about £4.00 including postage, so don't care about that. I won't judge just yet as so far the communication has been good, but it sounds like he has a pretty chequered past and I'm sorry to hear about some of your experiences, especially patrickh. _________________ Graham - Moderator

I've been caught too...
A pity I didn't notice this thread before!.
I bought an Olympus XA3 with an A11 flash, advertised as "works well". That lead me to think the camera had been tested.
Click here to see on Ebay
But the camera had never been tested. It came with an exposed roll inside, the light seals degraded and the shot counter stuck. Otherwise it seems to work (the shutter fires). The overall aspect is not bad, and the A11 flash works well.
So I'll keep it.
The most surprising thing is that the seller sent me an email asking for positive feedback. The text is quite funny:
"Please make sure before leaving any feedback that if there is anything wrong with the item you have fully read the description to see if it is included in the description. Please also note that as any neutral or negative feedback is depremental to any sales this shall result in not being able to bid on any more of my items in the future.Due to recent changes within the ebay feedback and item visibility system it would be much appreciated if you could also leave as high detailed seller ratings as you can to help with furhter listings.Thank you for purchasing Olympus XA3 Camera + A11 Flash =WORKS WELL=. Please leave feedback for me on eBay and I'll do the same for you. Take this opportunity now and help build a better eBay community."
Just for you to know.
I fully support Voytek and all the affected colleagues.

Hello and thanks for this thread. I was watching two lenses of ferndowncamera which I will now leave where they are.
I was wondering if there is a way to block ebay-sellers in my own account to prevent me from accidently bidding. I know you can do this as seller with unwanted bidders but does it also work the other way around. |

Thanks Attila, it has been cheap, so not many worries. I'd have only to fix it, maybe an opportunity to write another tutorial .
Kind regards,
