Some people are idiots no wonder ferndale cameras still survives...17 bids for a camera with shutter problems and believe me it was overpriced as I know, I have a Canon T90.

Some day the stupid man will learn how to upload pictures to ebay.
At least that item wasn't sprinkled with biscuit crumbs, like most of his stuff.

Where is the problem ?

PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 8:30 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Look at the rear of the lens. I didn't noticed it at first too.

PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 8:39 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

So, there's a rubber band around the rear of the lens, probably a way to attach an inventory label to the item without using glue or stickers.

I am probably dumb but what is the problem with that lens?

Yeah, there is a rubber, I didn't notice it before, but not necessary meaning there is a problem...

unfortunately i got caught by ferndown cameras , having just bought my first dslr i wanted a lens with a bit more reach for my sony a200 so i bought a tokina 70-210 af lens from him, unfortunately it wont focus to infinity everything else works fine.

being a panic attack sufferer i could'nt face sending it back and all the associated problems so its just a nice paper weight now Crying or Very sad

does anyone know how to fix this lens

welcome! No idea , zoom lenses are difficult constructions, perhaps simple not fit into your camera and nothing wrong with lens.

What mount ?
What mount ?
its a minolta af mount so should work no problem on a sony a200

i got a tokina 35-200 from somewhere else minolta af mount and that works no problem at all

In this case try to find tampering traces, perhaps it was opened and wrongly built again.

I don't think so it has real benefits, but you can.

Still very much a lottery, dealing with him. He passes so much stuff through his hands some folk are bound to get a bad deal, but it's his reaction when things go wrong that's the real clincher. I wouldn't ever touch his sales, and he's had some items I would have bought if someone else had been selling them.

That's the lesson I learned from him. Both of my transactions with his previous incarnations were costly duds. When I'm interested in an object and the seller has negative feedback, I scan the feedback (toolhaus.org is good for this) to see how he dealt with it. If he has fixed the problem, I discount the negative, because that's reassuring rather than discouraging. Almost invariably, 'Rocky's' response is to call the buyer an idiot and refer to 'other feedback for accuracy', as though the feedback for other transactions had any relevance to the disputed transaction. I'm afraid I wouldn't even touch this seller's auctions with somebody else's money.

So, seems like he's either absconded again and is about to unleash himself on an unsuspecting public with yet another username, or they finally did something about him Twisted Evil

I knew about the website Bob - but it's the new line of bull$h1t in the About Us section that's news to me Shocked

It's the little things like...

"Due to the flood of new items by power sellers making ebay far from usable for many buyers we have taken on board requests to move all our business onto this website to give the opportunity of multiple item purchases in the same way we used to on ebay with the same cross section of different products to give many possible choices."

...and...

"You are of course covered in the same way as on ebay in that if you feel if an item is incorrectly described then we shall refund in full which is why repeat custom is such a huge part of our business and of course payment protection is included also."

...that make me smile warmly Twisted Evil

Great! If the twat's gone, it means I no longer have to filter him out of ebay searches. I wonder what really happened? I doubt ebay booted him, as they are notorious for allowing scum to continue, but who knows, perhaps a change is afoot - you never know, it might be that ebay finally paid attention to public opinion. Otoh, I suspect ricketycameras might have simply moved to a full websales site to eliminate ebay costs.

He will back to ebay soon.. I am pretty sure.
