utilitarian - having regard to utility or usefulness rather than beauty, ornamentation, etc.
Soviet kit sometimes feels like farm equipment, ruggedly built and heavy in the hand. If you can overlook that the glass can be very good, the forum is full of great images from Soviet gear.
Of course we should all shoot with what we enjoy _________________ I welcome C&C, editing my pics and reposting them on the forum is fine.

got this from a charity shop today. They do house clearances.

Pentax 28-80 zoom in perfect condition.
Pentax carrying case

canon eyecup
nikon eyecup (fits Pentax...)
49mm CPL filter
2x $1 bills
for £5. Yaaay a body for my 'new' XR Rikenon 200mm!
I took Lloydys advice and asked the guy if he has any more stuff. "They have some at the other shop, big cameras, like this, they're old fashioned now arent they?" the man replied.
He's gonna give me a ring when they're brought over to his shop. So hopefully some Canon or Nikon bargains too!!

I wish!
Actually reading through this topic I was interested in Aussiebobs experience and people's reaction about him apparently ripping off an old man. Bearing this in mind now, and the fact that I'm a fair minded guy: I'm about to look at stuff from a charity shop. I'll offer a fair price. They were going to go to CashGenerator. I'd offer what CG would sell them for which I think is reasonable. Its not the price that's important to a certain degree its having the opportunity to get first dibs at good equipment.
I think over time I've paid over the odds for some cameras but that's what you must do if you want them. |

Not exactly bargain, I never really landed one, i see people getting good lens for a few dollars lol, least I've paid is 10 for a rokkor-x MD 50 1.7 and there's some dust inside the lens, it's in bargain condition.
But the last 3 days I've gotten 2 deals.
1) Minolta MC 85 1.7 = 100 USD and Minolta 50 3.5 MC macro without 1:1 tube = 25 USD
2) This package i just got today has 2 cameras, both doesn't function 100%, both are konica T3, not sure if I want to try and fix it.
But the package contains
Hexanon 135 3.2 (2 of them) (i already have another copy at home, so I'm sitting on 3 copies now lol)
Hexanon 50 1.4 (missing focus grip, I have now see 2 of these lens without focus grip, seems to be a prone problem)
Hexanon 57 1.4
Vivitar 28 2.5 (just took a few shots, very nice lens)
Pro Master 80-205 mm 3.8 (a constant aperture zoom, with macro mode at 80mm, pretty much unsuable wide open, stop down to f/8 it's usable, macro mode is fun, wouldn't buy it if I have to spent money, but since it's a package... lol)
and there's a bunch of sky filters and junk, so it's great, everything in good conditions.
this package was 60 USD... I was mainly going for the 50 and the 57 1.4, the rest is just bonus IMO. |

I found a Canon EX Auto, with 1.8/50, 3.5/35 and 3.5/125, body and 50 mm in good working order, the 35 and 125 mm pristine, like new. I couldn't leave it in the shop, so I picked it all up for 16 euro. Major question: is it any good? Is it worth my while to butcher the body to build an adapter for my Nex? |

Well it`s a great deal, wonderful actually, but destroying the camera in order to make an adapter sound silly. Just buy a factory made one on ebay. This way you`ll save the camera and have a better quality adapter. _________________ I have many great Russian cameras and lenses for sale on my ebay account, please check it out: http://www.ebay.com/sch/piksius/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3686
