Any one has experience or opinion on the HorusBennu/Phoenix 50mm f/1.7? Some says it's a Korean lens, others say it's a Chinese lens.

How does it compare to the other 50mm Yashica ML, Planar, Rokkor, Nikkor, Canon, OM, etc. I don't have any Pentax lens, so when people compared it to the FA50, I have no idea what it meant.

Any comparison must be qualified with the cost. Otherwise, everyone would drive a Ferrari. _________________ When I try to be a photographer I manage to add an f to art. |

Got a Ricoh Rikenon 50/1.7 in m42 mount recently. The price was 11 euros inclusive shipping. It performed very well, I'd say just brilliant for that price.
This one is quite expensive, for a 3rd party lens and the word limeted makes me thing they try (at least ebay seller) to bullshit possible buyers, like it's something rare. Well maybe outside of Korea it is. |

I've heard Chinese. This lens was often rebadged to make fake Yashica ML 50/1.7 (source: http://www.hi-ho.ne.jp/sbko-hq/FAKE/Fake_ML50mmf1.7.html ). I had one of these fake "Yashicas". It's a decent 50mm lens but nothing special. Bokeh is smoother than with the original Yashica ML 50/1.7, sharpness about the same. It has half-stops and focuses slightly closer than the Yashica. Worth about $20-25. _________________ List of lenses |

Seriously these days so many cheap and excellent 50mm lenses are available East Germans , Russians , Chinon, Nikon , Olympus OM etc ..
So really no matter how good or bad a third party lens like Phoenix etc. _________________ -------------------------------

Quite similar, or so it seemed. The Yashica was *maybe* a bit more contrasty/better colors, but not by much. The Phoenix had better/smoother bokeh. The Yashica is built way better. The Phoenix is smaller and lighter. _________________ List of lenses |

Or rather, everyone would be out walking while their broken down Ferraris sit in their garages. Used Ferraris are surprisingly affordable (some for less than the cost of a new base model Camry or the like)... it's the maintenance costs that kill you. _________________ Sigma DP1, Nikon D40 (hers ), Polaroid x530, Pentax P30t, Pentax P50, (P30t/P50 K-A to Nikon F body mount conversion)
