Lovely Smile I've got an ais 24/2.8 too and it's a corner! What's the other one, a 28/2?

Seem in very good condition! How much did they cost?
Happy birthday and happy shooting.
I have yet to try a Nikon lens...

My own birthday is in April, but after 30 you are
a grown-up and do not need excuses to get lenses.
So I ordered 2 Zeiss lenses in the weekend Confused
Considering this, you may want to stop at 29 forever...

Excellent! Happy birthday!

I bought a Nikon FE just so I could own these two lenses, though my 24 is aftermarket ai'd.

Happy birthday and those are sweet gifts you got from yourself. Smile

Mine was 3 days ago and I also got a lens gift from myself Laughing , a planar 50/1.4, but hopefully in a decent condition, since it looks cosmetically very bad on the pics...

Umm, what needs modifications? I'm not familiar with Nikon much, but I thought there were no problems since both is Nikon.. Question

PostPosted: Tue Aug 24, 2010 7:43 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

it's the aperture ring that needs modification, there's a switch and a metering lever on some Nikon bodies... nonAI isn't "compatibile" with those levers and switches

http://static.photo.net/attachments/bboard/00L/00LgD7-37196484.jpg

in this photo d200 has a metering lever in the red circle and d100 has a switch lower left by the mount that are "in the way" with nonAI's aperture ring....

thx for the clarification, I didn't know that! Wink

Excellent! Congratulations on your presents--and birthday.

"I have socks older than that." That's very funny. Although, come to think of it, I DO have socks older than that. Now I'm depressed.

Oh, wait, lenses! I keep hearing the 24/2.8 is a great lens, but I've not had the pleasure of using one...yet. As for the 35/2: Nice lens! It's sharp, takes great pictures, and gives a much better perspective than a 50mm, in my opinion, anyway.

Ai. Yeah. If you want to use it on your D90, you'll have to have it converted. Also, if you lock the metering lever up out of the way on the FE (check out the manual, it'll tell you how), you can mount and use non-Ai lenses. But, you'll have to use the old stop-down method of aperture control, because the FE can't control the aperture on a non-Ai lens. John White does good, clean work. I've sent him a lens or two.

Enjoy your new lenses!!
