Of particular interest to this board might be this ad from 1969

These are glorious! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, where you could buy new Biotars for US$44 and a Komura 85/1.4 for less than US$100!
I've been wondering what to do with my mid-1960 -1970's Pop Photos, Industrial Photo, and others....I just got a decent Canon scanner...perhaps my winter project? _________________ Eugene

I love reading the articles as well, with the passage of time the meanings have changed some... I haven't scanned much editorial content as I'm not sure about copyrights etc. _________________ -Jussi

This ad is very interesting, it hits my period of collecting interest exactly.
And I have already spotted a dozen bits of interesting information, and targets for collection.
There are some rare/unusual/things I have never seen or even heard of here. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Thats very thoughtful of you Nesster !
Some interesting bits -
The same vendor (Cambridge) was often selling the same lens under multiple brands - and thats not just Soligor vs Vivitar, which had at least a 70% overlap in their products.
The same Tamron lens (80-250/3. is listed as a Bushnell and an Aetna Rokunar as well as a Tamron (and the Tamron-branded one is the cheapest!), the same Kiron (85-205/3. is a Vivitar and a Rokunar and a "no-name", and the same Tokina 90-230/4.5 is a Vivitar, Soligor, and a "top brand".
And there were preset, auto and T4 versions of the same lens in the same brand - well, I knew that.
Also listed is the rare early Tamron 55-90/4 preset zoom, which I thought would have been gone by 1969.
And the 85/1.5 AND 85/1.8 presets under the Soligor brand. I have never seen or heard of one.
Lots more of interest ! _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Wow, thanks!
There may be some differences in age, but that single ad has almost half of my lenses in it. - Aetna Rokunar 300/5.6 auto, hood($61.89)
- Vivitar 500/6.3 preset ($94.50)
- Soligor 3x TC ($17.95)
- Soligor 135/3.5 auto ($39.50)
- Soligor 28/2.8 auto ($51.95)
That's a total of US $265.79 in 1969 dollars... I plugged that into the inflation calculator at http://www.calculator.net/inflation-calculator.html, and it says that $265.79 in 1969 is equivalent to $1646.48 in 2009. _________________ Sigma DP1, Nikon D40 (hers ), Polaroid x530, Pentax P30t, Pentax P50, (P30t/P50 K-A to Nikon F body mount conversion)
