Had to wait for a piccie.

1.4/50 Nikkor
3.5/28 Nikkor
3.5/43-86 Nikkor
Nikon Speedlight and sundries.

Edited - My typo fingers had a dyslexic attack and transposed the numbers.

Ya did good! A nice FE outfit, with a black FE no less, for approximately the value of the 43-86. What a deal! The zoom is not held in particular high regard because of its softness, although I've heard more than one photographer remark that this "feature" makes it a good portrait lens.

Which model motor drive is it? The MD-11 and MD-12 are equivalent, performance-wise, but if an MD-11, one needs to remember to turn off the motor drive after use, or it will drain the batteries.

Thank you both for the happy thoughts.
The motor drive is MD-12. The previous owner had been careful enough to remove all batteries - I am grateful for the thoughtfulness.
Interestingly the box contained two receipts - one in Arabic that I cannot read from Riyadh dated 1981 and the other for a Nizo 156 bought at Bonsers of Bigg Market in 1975. No Nizo though Sad Haha

Nikkor lenses listing for sale on Craigslist for $35 all total.

Nikkor 105 F1.8 focusing stuck for $20
Problem solved after little back and forth, the lens work like a charm after 30 years in storage.

Nikkor 85 F2 aperture stuck due to oil on the blades $15
Problem solved after five minutes taking the lens apart to clean out the oil on the blades.

Picture of the flower taken with the Sony A7 + Nikkor 105 F1.8 at full open.

PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2014 6:17 pm    Post subject: Kiev 4 and lenses Reply with quote

I've spent the last few months in Vietnam and often checked the local classified sales from my town in the UK.
One post about 6 weeks ago was for a box of cameras and a vague picture. £20.
It had been on the website for a week already and I emailed the woman selling to see if they had been sold.
The reply was no and she wasn't able to give me any details as she said she knew nothing about them.
All I could see was that there were two cameras in leather cases and two lenses which looked interesting.
I thought I had nothing to lose for £20 so emailed my brother to go and buy them as seen as he knows nothing about cameras either.
I got back to the UK yesterday and checked out the box.
Two Kiev 4 cameras.
One Jupiter 8/50, one Jupiter 11 135/4 and one Jupiter 9 85/2 plus other bits of no real value.
All in great condition and no fungus!
Very happy.

Not been much around at the local car boot sales recently
However today was a bit different.
A Canon FD 28mm f2.8 in immaculate condition £4. It came with a Canon T70 which I told the seller to keep as I was only interested in the lens.
Next an Oly Zuiko 50mm f1.8 again at £4. Bit scruffy but the glass was clean . I already have a 50 1.8 with bad fungus but otherwise cosmetically good so should be able to do something with the two.
Finally again at £4 a Vivitar series one 28mm f1.9 in OM fit. Very minor damage to the mount which would not effect operation in any way.
Quite a bit of dust internally but no sign of fungus.
This is quite a rare one I understand. I will be interested to see how it performs.
Wonder what will be out there next week.

Small world! Bonsers of Bigg Market is in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, or should I say, was - they closed down within the last 5 years. Possibly the last independant dealer in this city.

Just won a Canon FD 50/1.4 for £25.20 + Postage on fleaBay. Looking forward to this as the T90 hasn't had a lens for about a year - I had only kept one lens - the fantastic 28-85 f/4 - but dropped it the lens snapped at the mount.

I got a FD 50/1.4 SSC for $10 plus $5 shipping, because the seller thought it has too much fungus and non-repairable. I cleaned it up, fix the aperture and now it's my favorite lens.
And just last week, I got the nFD 80-200 f/4 L for just $98, it's in pristine condition. I was so happy that I even can't sleep the night before receiving the lens Laughing

Langstrum, you are very lucky. I've been looking for a cheap 80-200L for many years - the T90 was my main SLR from 1991-2007 and I never found it in all that time. ( was lucky enough to score good deals on the 50/1.2L and 20-35L so I suppose I should be grateful, really!)

And a Zuiko Pen 40/1.4 with its hood for 99 euros two minutes ago ! Not a super bargain but not bad either. A nice day on the fleabay !

Konica Z up 70 Super for £2 at the market. It had a fresh battery in it and all seems to work, but I won't know if it was a bargain until I finish the film. Laughing

A Schacht Travenar 135/3.5 in M42 mount for 99p (= US $ 1.60 or 1.20 Euro). Optics, iris, focusing and cosmetics fine, but missing the auto stop-down pin. I think I can live with that. Very Happy

How much for this lens you can consider as cheap? To me $200 is totally acceptable and I was going to buy with this price and suddenly luck found me.
Some stores here sell this lens for about $200, quite cheaper than on the bay.
I almost got an amazing deal for FD 50/1.2L on the same day ($300) but then the seller realized that's his mistake and told me it was sold. I got 50/1.2 SSC with FD-NEX adapter instead, but still acceptable. 20-35L is extremely difficult to find now, so you must be grateful Laughing
