In theory, I paid $17.62 for my share of the Hubble Space Telescope. This would make it my fourth most expensive lens, but it's still not a bad deal for a 57,600mm mirror lens. Wink

I tried to talk them down a bit, since it had a flaw in the mirror, but they said that it only added to the price. Very Happy

Meh....... A camera/lens deal is only a deal if you get great production from it.
In which case my best deal was the RD1 and Biogon 2/35 that I paid the proper average price for (thanks again KDS Very Happy ).

I did find a cache of 3 Angeneix (spelling sorry) M42 Reflex lenses in an old leather "box" lenses at a thrift shop for $11 though I have never mounted any of them yet .
Ebay will get them when the market becomes more ripe. Wink

I recently found a rare Tamron SP 180mm f/2.5 in mint condition that was
so cheap I dare not mention it as you would surely not believe me.

When I am on a fleamarket I hardly see a anything interesting. Last I purchased a Pentacon 29mm 2.8 for € 3, OK. You make me jalous a bit with extreem cheap stuff.
But I agree with F16sunshine:

Most beloved bargain was my Minolta XE-1, to replace one, demolished by my ex. She was gone four years ago and immeaditly after I searched some time for a replacement. Found one in England and paid € 200 for a nice black one. The lens was unknown but irrelevant because I still had a Rokkor 50mm 1.4. When the camera came in there was a 58mm 1.2 on it. Not very cheap but never a camera purchase made me happier.

Anything that's attached to a Zenit or Practika can be cheap, but a crap shoot.

I also got a Spotty with a 1.8/55 S-M-C Tak & Series 1 35-85 Viv for very little and a 35mm Flek at around half price.

CZJ Flektogon 2,8/20 , brand new, box, case , filter for €50. Many Praktica mtl50 , mtl5 kits with 29,50 , 135 for €5 or less. Zenit 12xp with Helios for €2 ... Zenit 11 with mir-1 black for €5 . Pancolar Zebra with case €8 . etc..., etc ... Very Happy

I once bought a nearly new Mamiya Sekor SX 50mm/2 lens on eBay for about $10 total (USD). It had been mistakenly listed as a T-mount lens but of course it was M42 mount. Really sharp!

Oddly, it is a transitional version that has the same rugged lens body and focusing ring as the pre-SX versions, but no A-M lever. Except for being marked SX, it looks like the DTL Model II lens in this photo:

I once got an M8 for £3.50. He wanted £5 but I knocked him down a bit, and he agreed to throw in an f/1.4 Summilux if I'd take it off his hands.

(OK, I'm lying. There are so many astonishing bargains on display here that I just want the lucky folks to know for a few seconds how it feels to read about their good fortune, and how jealous I am...)

Most people could probably post stories of bad fortune & missed deals, too. Last weekend I missed two eBay deals I had been waiting the whole week for. The other because apparently the alarm on my mobile won't ring if I'm talking on the phone at the time—the item sold for 4× less than I would have bid as my maximum. The other I missed because my network connection had an unusual delay just as I was bidding. I pressed “confirm bid” on two computers on two different eBay sites with 10s left (yes, well, I do come prepared), but neither reached the server in time. The only consolation is that it sold for nearly my maximum bid anyhow and so I probably would have been outbid.

(And I'm still kicking myself for considering the 125mm APO-Lanthar too expensive when it was available for $700 or so. Now I will never have one.)
