Looks like that front ring will unscrew. You just need a gigantic lens spanner.

Actually, 11cm IS just a tiny bit too small. 12cm would do it though
Certainly weighs a bit but, apart from the fungus, it seems almost brand new. Certainly very little wear on the tripod mounts. Came in its own case with three massive filters too AND an M42 T-mount. Not bad
I think for such a rare and prestigious lens I need to make a custom spanner. I can practice on the filters though, since they each have the same ring. Quality! |

Yes, you are right. However there seems to be some sort of pillar which goes from the mirror to the back of the front element so I'm not sure if I should be going in from the back?
I feel a custom made spanner coming on. Those slots are 12cm apart
This lens is in lovely condition apart form the fungus, so I'm loath to use my normal butcher tactics. If anyone has direct experience of this lens, I'd be grateful. |

Given that the front is covered in fungus and it was half dark, I don't think that the image from this one is that bad. If I'd got the exposure right, I think it would be even better.

Ha, yes, we often forget about that. My delete folder is quite full, but that is the great thing about digital. Oh, by the way, I saw a Komura lens for cheap and something happened. That's it, the last one.

Found the way in There is a single large screw on the main barrel, visible in this image, which is the focus stop. Take out this screw (VERY SOFT BRASS!!!) and the whole front of the lens comes off after abut 100 turns. This gives access to the back of the front lens and the front of the mirror. Fungus EVERYWHERE !!!!! If I get it clean, I'll post another shot of the number plate as a comparison. |
