It should also be noted that the 5DIII and 6D have much improved higher ISO performance than the 5D II. That said, the Sony looks great _________________ Graham - Moderator

1st quick thoughts of Steve Huff :
"In regards to Leica M Mount lenses using adapters…The A7r has issues with the 12, 15 and 21mm focal length, even 28mm to some extent. The A7 had some slight vignetting with the 15 and 21 but no real color shift. Not nearly as much as the A7r. So if you are one who was planning on using WIDE ANGLE Leica M mount glass, go for the A7.
The A7R offers pure power in resolution and that is about the only advantage it gives over the cheaper A7 (besides slight build on the dials). I love both but the A7 shutter is quieter, the AF is faster and the camera costs less and does better with wide angle Leica M glass!" _________________ "Plonger les choses dans la lumière, c'est les plonger dans l'infini" Léonard De Vinci

Corner problem difference seems to be the same as between Sony NEX-6 (16MP) and NEX-7 (24MP) - higher pixel density makes more problems with RF glass. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

N, i have noted elsewhere that in his analysis steve huff said he did not test these lenses. he only took casual shots with one or two WAs, with no landscape shots. his 'conclusions' were only with regard to easily correctable vignetting and CA issues, not for non-correctable landscape edge sharpness. imo, although i really like steve, his 'conclusions' were way premature, and that based on his very limited casual shooting, should not have drawn any conclusions at all.
i would not base any decision on whether or which to purchase based on the very preliminary and paltry 'facts' we actually have at our disposal. sony does not even have a final product yet, as these guys are shooting non final versions.

When are you going to Kerala?
I understand you would want to take a new FF camera on such a trip.
But I would recommend not rushing in if there are some unknowns that might cause you problems. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

they will be more Sony full frame bodies so be ready for even more bullshit
cheaper and smaller sony full frame wrote: |
according to one of our sources Sony will indeed launch more bodies 2014 including some that will be cheaper and smaller than the A7. It almost sounds like Full Frame and not APS-C will become the mainstream mirrorless system sensor. If Sony can keep the price down than this makes sense to create a clear advantage over the competition |
