? EOS 5D? what does a design of a Canon camera have to do with Sony?

Sorry, I don't understand why you speak about the 5D, what you mean.

oh, this looks good, I must admit that layout and grip look better than I had expected
I specially like the 'new' location of the loupe = magnification button, Sony seems to have had manual lens users in their mind!

Personally I love EVF to be articulating, but well, one can't have it all. Would have loved if it was as big as that of the OM-1, it's not, but i read that 0.71x at 100% coverage on FF is identical to A99 and 5DIII. I don't mind the slow 1.5 resp. 2.5 FPS which is what many lament: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3561110 otherwise specs look great

It seems the special micro lens design on the edge is only found on A7R...

Biggest downsides: poor FPS, Loud shutter, and not great AF.

Upside: looks like the ulitimate MF glass body to date. Every reason to expect it will out shoot the M240 with all RF glass. Sony says its the sharpest Alpha ever by far.

I do hate loud shutters and I like a good burst, but I'm in.

Nice review here

If so Sony reversed their strategy from NEX5N and NEX7. The 5N had the micro lens design better for adapted lenses ( well, RF wide angles ) while the higher MP count and more expensive NEX7 did not. To me that had made sense as the trinavi and otherwise 'superior' access to setting of the NEX7 made more sense with native lenses and added little to MF users and I thought that MF users may opt for the economical choice and prefer the articulating EVF.
Sales might have taught them that there are quite a few users that use expensive RF glass on their NEX and that manual lens users rather opt for the top offering. Now the higher MP and more expensive A7R has the micro lenses and interestingly only contrast-detect AF while the cheaper A7 offers Hybrid AF.

From the feature page on Sony Japanese site, the offset microlenses feature is missing on the A7. As you said, the A7R is target for users need higher image quality(4FPS) and the A7 is targeted for user need faster AF and more FPS(5FPS).

If A7R has a touch screen like the 5N, it will be even better. Check also the samples from the camera. The Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8 ZA seems perform very well as a portrait lens with good sharpness and smooth bokeh!

Oh, yeah.... My precious... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Wow, this will be a completely new world for me, my lenses will act very different on FF compared to my OM-D

Now suddenly 25mm is a wideangle! Looking forward to pair my RF lenses up! Razz

right. also the A7R had no AA filter, the A7 does have AA filter.
the guy in the youtube movie linked by Nordentro also very well defines how these difference in features targets different users.
samples look very good. according to specs at imaging resource both don't have touch screen

Hardly have been using the one on my 5N, however whenever I take photos of kids on the streets in Asia and they then review the results, they always use the touch screen to scroll, and much more effectively so than I ever have learned to Wink

right, very useful, very practical! for me personally less so for I pretty much always use the EVF, but imo certainly better to have it than not to have it!
