Andy, your dog is the photogenic specimen of canine kind. Someday I need
Biogon 35/2 ZM, it has my kind of bokeh similar to G-Planar 2/45 IMHO.

thePiRaTE!! (your HN is hard to type Very Happy)
Planar 55/1.2 has nice bokeh, but it does produce Nisen-bokeh (Double line
bokeh) at certain situations. That is common to all those fast lenses I guess.

Simply unbelievable.
This is a surreal image ... would have to be THE MOST 3D like image I have seen.

Amazing capture indeed ... Shocked

I could only wish to capture something like that.

I vote for: Macro Planar 2/100 and #37...the planes of the daisies really are augmented by the depth of field and fine bokeh.

And ALL of these just blow me away!

Voytek: I can't say enough for the Sankyo Kohki S-Komura, M42 Uni auto mount 2.5/100; marvelous...

And I agree with the comments about your dog, Andy. Shocked

I find the bokeh can be pleasing ... and a little weird at time with some of my Super Takumars as well ... mainly my 85mm f/1.9

I can really produce some dreamy effects though.

63 & 64 Elmarit-R 35 (last version) every 35mm is compared against (pretty good lens)
65 & 66 Sumilux-R 50 (E55) one previous version (pretty good too)
67 & 68 Summicron-R 50 very famous all rounder
69 & 70 Macro Elmarit 60 hard to find bokeh shots (normally not used for bokeh)
71 & 72 Elmarit-R 90 one of very good bokeh lens and sharp

Any one of these lenses are PRETTY good to me, and the most of then have good bokeh too.
I do not use them much somehow, feel like the lens makes the photo not by me. Shocked Very Happy

All are great ones! Many thanks guys!

#63 is simple outstanding to me.

Seeing the results of those Leica lenses is easy for everyone to understand why they are so much evaluated!
Just outstanding.
I own three of those myself Very Happy (the Elmarit-R 35 and 90 and the Summicron-R 50)
What cameras did you shoot these photos with?

The best of the best; LEICA M lenses.

No more words. LEICA M (Zeiss, go bye) Laughing

Rino.

I wish to see sometimes Leica M, now I am really doubt about that Wink I am sure rangefinder provide better quality than SLR perhaps this is the key.

PostPosted: Thu Nov 20, 2008 12:40 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Anyway the above photos are Leica-R Wink

PostPosted: Thu Nov 20, 2008 12:49 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Oh sorry, I forgot to add Leica M-lens (only one I have).
Only shots with bokeh in here, hardly any other bokeh shot.

@Orio, Elmarit-R 35 and 90 shots were with film, other with EOS_5D.

I did not like this lens with film, used only twice (means 2 rolls of films)
for the past more than ten years. Started using it again with M8, which is somehow
a good match. Its small size is really nice for travel. Here is more (no bokeh).
These are shot with M8 + UV/IR cut filter and mostly @f8 as far as I remember.

in Warshawa

in Krakow

in Budapest Hungary

Certainly M-lens has good quality, so does some of Cosina Voiglander ones. Very Happy
But my experience is only with this M35 ASPH.

Thanks much Koji for showing these images!
It is rare to find people with Leica M lenses and even more to have them post their pictures.
I appreciate these M 35mm aspherical Leica lens, but if I compare it with what I saw from Zeiss Biogon 2/35, I have to say that the Biogon has MUCH more personality and signature.
This Leica seems to produce excellent quality picture but I do not see much of a personality in this lens.

PostPosted: Thu Nov 20, 2008 1:16 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Exacto, Orio. Also this lens has uber-contrast, which hates me too.
I do not own Biogon 35/2 ZM, but I like Zeiss or Cosina lenses so far
and they are gentle to my wallet too. (I want that Biogon 35/2.)
Y'know I am a fixed income retired guy. Very Happy

52 for teh win.

I sense a trend in my tastes. I love the cats-eye spherical swirl effect. It draws the viewer into the center of the frame. Can only get this with generous f1.4's or wider apertures that I've seen. Nice ones! Thanks for posting.

Some old bokeh test shots with the SMC Pentax-FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited. I'm not sure if it has a good bokeh, but it's a great lens nonetheless Smile

Here comes Yashica's. There is no Bokeh shot for ML21/3.5, ML24/2.8, and ML28/2.8.
By the way I do not make photos for the sake of bokeh, it happened to have bokeh as
a back ground. Some day I will make bokeh shots for the above lenses. Very Happy

75 & 76 DSB 50/1.9 pretty sharp lens (I guess same as ML50/1.9 without multi-coating)
77 & 78 YUS DS 50/2 USA only version
79 & 80 ML 55/4 macro (originally designed as micro fiche copy machine???)
81 & 82 ML 55/2.8 macro faster version of ML55/4, I do not see much difference
83 & 84 ML 100/3.5 macro (I suspect this lens is the same as Y/C 100/3.5, of course my wild guess. Very Happy )
85 & 86 ML 50/2 I do not have much comment for this lens
87 & 88 ML 50/1.9 Yes, this lens is sharp.
89 & 90 ML 50/1.7 almost same as ML 50/2, not much comment/impression
91 & 92 ML 50/1.4 my recommended lens for many people
93 & 94 ML 50/1.2 faster version of ML 50/1.4 (this lens is sharp thou indeed)

Thank you again, Koji, for these excellent captures! That really is some collection of lenses you have Smile (and some cataloging skill and perseverence too!) What bodies do you use them on?

The most of shots so far were done with EOS_5D, which can mount
various mount lenses except Minolta SR-mount lens. I do not own
any K-mount, nor AR-mount (Konica), but some are with films for
older pics. The most of shots by L and M-mount lenses are done by M8.

Cataloguing is PITA. Very Happy I have finally made like this (it took two or three years..)

lens ... brand A --- lens 1 -- YYMMDD's shots
....................................... -- YYMMDD's shots (if too many in the same year, i create
.................................................................... higher directory of YYYY or YY/MM
........................ --- lens 2 --- YYMMDD's shots
...................................... --- Flowers or some special case

........... brand B --- lens 1
........................ --- lens 2 in ascending order of focal length then
......................................... in ascending f-stop # order for same FL lenses

Exception of M42 proper lenses and some uncategorical(?) brand,
like third party lens or odd and only one such as Fuji TX-1 (panorama cam).

It is actually almost exactly same as Mac' iPhoto directory structure internally in the lowest level,
I used to hate and even now so about "iPhoto". Ironically the final goal of efficiency is (or seems)
emerging to the same point, which I do not like neither. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

(background: I used to do programming in Unix/Linux for a special computer language called APL.
Yes, I did more in the IBM's mainframe assembler programming for the above language. TaDah...)
