Laughing I missed that!
We have rain and cold and the roses are now gone, so I have to make do with other photography subjects.

It's nice to see that this thread has been resurrected again. A couple of years ago I posted a few of my flower photos, and upon viewing them again, I realized that I have more that are at least as good. So here are a few more.

#1, #2: Red and White Camelias -- Canon F-1, Canon FD 50mm f/3.5 macro, Kodachrome 64

#1

#2

#3 Night Blooming Cereus, Canon XS, Canon EF-S 18-55mm, ISO 100

#4 Alaskan Poppy, Canon AE-1, Albinar 80-200m f/3.9, Kodacolor 100. My very first flower picture, circa 1982.

#5 Red Rose, Canon XS, Nikon ED AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 D

#6 Red Rose, Canon XS, Nikon ED AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 D

#7 Rose bud, Canon XS, Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 AD2

#8 Bug on Red Rose, Canon XS, Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 @ 1.2, ISO 100, FD-EOS Adapter w/o glass

#9 Red Rose and Bumble Bee, Canon XS, Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 @ 1.2, ISO 100, FD-EOS Adapter w/o glass

#10 Red Flowers and Skyscraper, Downtown Los Angeles, Canon A-1, Canon FD 100mm f/2.8, Kodachrome 64

#11 Cactus Garden at Huntington Gardens, Pasadena, CA, Canon FTb, Canon FL 35mm f/2.5, Kodachrome 64

#12 Cactus Garden at Huntington Gardens, Pasadena, CA, Canon FTb, Canon FL 35mm f/2.5, Kodachrome 64

A few comments:

The slide images I've posted here were not scanned. I used a slide duplicator with my Canon XS. Even though it is "only" a 10.1mp camera, it provides better resolution than any flat bed scanner can, about 2700ppi real resolution. Compare that to an Epson V750 with a claimed 9600ppi resolution that actually measures about 2300ppi.

Photo #4 of the Alaskan Poppy was taken shortly after I bought my very first zoom lens. It was a Korean-made Albinar 80-200mm f/3.9. This lens is very common on eBay, can be bought for next to nothing, yet it is a very sharp lens. I didn't realize how sharp it was until I bought a couple of much more expensive zooms to replace it, and I was surprised to see no increase in resolution with my much more expensive zooms. So, if you're looking for a cheapo, constant aperture 80-200 with a halfway decent macro mode, check out the Albinar. It might just surprise you.

Photos #5,6: These shots were taken with a D-series Nikkor ED zoom. I'm not sure why it is, but the D-series AF Nikkors sell for quite cheap on eBay, compared to more recent flavors. I'm not familiar with all the different alphabet soup Nikkors, so I don't understand why one flavor sells for more than another, but I can tell you this: the D-series 70-300 ED AF Nikkor is a tack-sharp optic, plus it has ED glass. I'm thinking about buying an F4 just so I can have an AF Nikon to use with this lens. Cool
