Interesting info.

I can't help but suspect a couple more changes possibly happened during the MC-X era, but I could have that wrong:

- a change from metal name rings to plastic name rings for some lenses
- a change from metal screw-in lens hoods to plastic screw-in lens hoods for some lenses (awful design by the way, very prone to cross-threading)

Could that be correct?

Юпитер-8 2/5cm п KMZ 1951

I've got 2 more 1951 coming soon ... 🤞

I'm making sure to have at least one near perfect one after I CLA and shine all three of them ...🤪

I love these little lenses ...🤷‍♂️

Yes but difficult to see in pictures and there is very little info on which lenses and when this change occurred

Agree on the design. Only 28mm, 35mm and 50mm lens shades were changed during that era to what i call combo shades (plastic, marked as 28mm F 2 F 2.8, F 3.5, 35mm F 1.8 and F 2.8, 50mm F 1.4, F 1.7. Others were changed in MD-II era like 24mm, Zoom Rokkor 50-135

Could that be correct?

I've got a 1954 with Contax RF mount, and it's extremely good. It was very inexpensive, too.

I've had a 1957 that I loved ....

Thought i'd get an earlier one, maybe with original Zeiss glass...

Thank you both for the information. I really enjoy 135s.
So I was pleased to find this (early 1960s ?) Soligor f/2.8 at local thrift shop a couple days ago.

When I opened the lens for cleaning, the focus helicoid was filled to overflowing with heavy, old, brown grease. A sticky mess!
After replacing the old grease, focus effort is now about half of what it was before.

Congrats Wow! An early model. The serial # will tell us manufacturer & date of manufacture.

Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 1:2 35 (Model II) -- for parts. Aperture ring stuck due to metal-deforming blow on camera end -- dropped perhaps? Used parts to repair lens bought previously with "missing a screw". I'm working on un-deforming metal; got it partially working. Smile But now it's missing some screws...

Yashica ML 4/200mm in its "C" (=compact) incarnation. Pretty rare lens here in Switzerland, and surprisingly sharp!

Interesting focus scale, engraved sideways. Good way to get more distances marked up.

@Visualopsins, definitely deosil, this one! Wink

Thanks, vis. The serial # is: S 635.

Apparently this Soligor was made by Komura and was sold from the mid to late 1950s:

And here's a Soligor brochure page. Happily, my copy cost much less than the original price!

Indeed! I hadn't even thought of that.

Hi guys. I finally managed to find a Soligor 350 f5.6 at a very good price (US 40) Glass and 12-blades aperture are perfectly clean and the lens works great. 😊
This one will be added to my preset collection. Mostly Soligor or Cunor 28/2,8 35/2,8 tiny 35/3,5 Tessar 50/2,8 Biotar 75/1,5 105/2,8 2x 135/3,5 180/3,5 200/3,5 200/4,5 250/5,5 (manual only) 300/5,5 2x 400/6,3 500/8. Still looking for a 250/4,5.

I also bought a Makinon 400/6.7 mirror cheap (also $40) I already have one but it' s not so good, so I took a chance with that one but I got a big deception. This one is absolutely useless. It looks great. Pristine condition, but the pictures are dreadfull. Something IS wrong but I can't see any suspicious mark suggesting a knock or something. Too bad.

I found this Konishiroku F mount 200/3.5 for cheapish in pretty rough shape on Yahoo JP site. Hopefully it will clean up, but if it doesn't I'll still have the quite rare F-AR mount adapter on the back of the lens to console myself with.

Very rare and usually very expensive for what it is.
Nicely done

I have a strong liking for the way that Komuras paint, and have collected a few.
My latest is a 105mm f2.5 early pre-set - supposedly a five element portrait lens

Looks like an adapt-all 2 rear cap in the back-ground.
I have one of those high caps around here somewhere- almost 2" thick.

Yes they are huge by comparison to a standard rear cap.
Buying old lenses is a bit "..... like a box of chocolates - you never know what you are going to get" Smile

I have two of those, and had to clean one of them. Fairly easy to disassembly (can't remember how I did it, but it remember it as fairly straightforward).

Well, as of now it was going to be the Volna 9 but now I think it might get stuck in Russia.
Hope eBay gives me back the money once the delivery time limit elapses.
Thinking of getting the Takumar 50mm f/4 instead. I just really want to know what it is like to use a proper macro lens. I'd get the Canon FDm 50mm f/3,5 but then I can't adopt it on my 6D.

I'm a fan of the tamron made ones - T-xxxx serial. There are also tokina made soligor 350's, or at least they are presumed to be tokina.
Not been that impressed with the "chrome-eared" ones...
