This little doohickey for $20. Curious what I can do with it.

Interesting. Looks like a lens in barrel with waterhouse stops built into that rotating disk. Does it have the focal length engraved somewhere?

PostPosted: Mon Feb 29, 2016 3:45 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

No, it only has MB engraved into it. In the thread I made about it, Luis seems to have identified it as a Marlow Brothers lens.

Well, my Tokina AT-X 150-500mm f/5.6 came in today. Pretty big lens, but a lot shorter than my CPO 500mm f/5.6 telephoto. Weighs more than the CPO, though. Here it is with my new Nikon EL2 that also came in today.

It came with a nice case and a set of drop-in rear filters.

One nice thing about this lens is that, being a one-touch zoom, the collar doesn't creep.

This Beautiful Canon 85mm 1.9 ltm

Me thinks it's a Serenar but Serenar does not appear on the lens.

Very nice indeed. This is a Type 4 - Canon 85mm f/1.9. There was made approx. 9000 units of this model between 1953 to 1958. I believe yours is from 1955-1956. The Serenar (Type 1 and 2, 1951 to 1952) models didn`t have click stop aperture like your lens Wink

Some very fast C-mounts. For your NEX-6? Or a m4/3 project?

The Computar 25mm f1.3 im getting infinity with my old Big Is thin M4/3 C mount adapter, with no mods to lens or adapter.
Im hoping for the same with 12.5 and 50mm lenses.

The Fujinon 9mm f1.4 will be a fast 50mm for my Pentax Q10.

I don't do impulse buys very often. Mostly because I don't usually have enough room in my bank account that will allow for one. But I have a bit of a cushion right now, and I ran across this lens yesterday, and just couldn't resist -- not at that price.

Click here to see on Ebay

This is the latest version of Canon's New FD 200mm f/2.8. What's most desirable about it with respect to earlier versions is it has internal focusing. I wish Canon would have installed a low-dispersion element in its make-up, though, because it's prone to CA in some situations. That used to be a severe problem, but in these days of Photoshop and the like, the CA can usually be handled.

I used to own a copy of this lens -- bought it new in 1985, sold it in 1989 when I thought I was gonna switch systems to Nikon. Replaced it with a Nikkor AIs 180/2.8 ED, a superior optic. Nonetheless, the FD 200/2.8 IF had a certain charm and it was really good at what it did well.

That Laowa lens looks interesting!

I've been buying to sell this year so have had a Zeiss Mirotar 500/8 and a Pentax K 50/1.2 through my hands but not really shot with them. Weirdly the Mirotar went to a buyer in Oberkochen!!!

I will make a thread as soon as I get it! I always wanted to try a STF lens... Wink

I don't have any experience with that same lens, but I have a few that exhibit similar traits -- that is, no difference in sharpness when I stop them down. I've always looked at this as a feature more than anything else, since the bias always seems to be on the plus side.

A Flektogon 35mm 2.4.
It needs some work, aperture stuck WO and focusing can smoother.
But it looks great, glass is clear.
And the price was quite reasonable Very Happy

What's wrong with that? Most "slow" MF primes from that time have nearly identical centerperformance from f2.8 ... f8 when i use them on 24 MP FF cameras (e. g. Minolta MC/MD 2.8/21mm, 2.8/24mm, 2.8/28mm and 3.5/28mm, 2.8/35mm, 2/85mm, 2.5/100mm, 4/200mm; Zeiss C/Y 2.8/25mm, Nikkor AiS 2.8/24mm, 4/200mm; Canon FD 2.8/24mm, 2.8/28mm, and 3.5/35mm and many others).

Some of these lenses - such as the Minolta MD 2.8/35mm, MD 2/85mm and MC/MD 4/200mm - are nearly identical even in the extreme corners, using 24 MP FF, from wide open to f11!

Last additions: A bargain Tokina AT-X 2.8/80-200mm with fungus in the front group (already cleaned) and a rather rare Minolta Tele Rokkor-QD 5.6/300mm. The latter is NOT the commonly found MC/MD 5.6/300mm, but an early construction with only four lenses in four groups. Nearly at the same time i was quite lucky to win another bid, which included a 1967 Minolta lens brochure, and there i found also the lens section of the Rokkor-QD 5.6/300mm:

Been waiting many years to acquire a Tamron SP 19AH. Today bought two, both in good condition, from a reliable seller, and each including the Tamron hood, for US$94 with free shipping.

Whoo Turtle

That should hold me for a while! Wink

Canon FD 300mm f2.8L
Knowingly purchased with fungus and it is now at the technician for CLA.
I have used it before it was sent for repair and it is a very good performer even with the fungus.
Should be wonderful when restored.
