I've spent the last few months in Vietnam and often checked the local classified sales from my town in the UK.
One post about 6 weeks ago was for a box of cameras and a vague picture. £20.
It had been on the website for a week already and I emailed the woman selling to see if they had been sold.
The reply was no and she wasn't able to give me any details as she said she knew nothing about them.
All I could see was that there were two cameras in leather cases and two lenses which looked interesting.
I thought I had nothing to lose for £20 so emailed my brother to go and buy them as seen as he knows nothing about cameras either.
I got back to the UK yesterday and checked out the box.
Two Kiev 4 cameras.
One Jupiter 8/50, one Jupiter 11 135/4 and one Jupiter 9 85/2 plus other bits of no real value.
All in great condition and no fungus!
Very happy. |

Not been much around at the local car boot sales recently
However today was a bit different.
A Canon FD 28mm f2.8 in immaculate condition £4. It came with a Canon T70 which I told the seller to keep as I was only interested in the lens.
Next an Oly Zuiko 50mm f1.8 again at £4. Bit scruffy but the glass was clean . I already have a 50 1.8 with bad fungus but otherwise cosmetically good so should be able to do something with the two.
Finally again at £4 a Vivitar series one 28mm f1.9 in OM fit. Very minor damage to the mount which would not effect operation in any way.
Quite a bit of dust internally but no sign of fungus.
This is quite a rare one I understand. I will be interested to see how it performs.
Wonder what will be out there next week. |

Small world! Bonsers of Bigg Market is in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, or should I say, was - they closed down within the last 5 years. Possibly the last independant dealer in this city. _________________ Lots of 35mm Film Cameras

I got a FD 50/1.4 SSC for $10 plus $5 shipping, because the seller thought it has too much fungus and non-repairable. I cleaned it up, fix the aperture and now it's my favorite lens.
And just last week, I got the nFD 80-200 f/4 L for just $98, it's in pristine condition. I was so happy that I even can't sleep the night before receiving the lens _________________

How much for this lens you can consider as cheap? To me $200 is totally acceptable and I was going to buy with this price and suddenly luck found me.
Some stores here sell this lens for about $200, quite cheaper than on the bay.
I almost got an amazing deal for FD 50/1.2L on the same day ($300) but then the seller realized that's his mistake and told me it was sold. I got 50/1.2 SSC with FD-NEX adapter instead, but still acceptable. 20-35L is extremely difficult to find now, so you must be grateful _________________

Were you lucky enough to pick up the eight element Super Tak 1.4/50?
I am interested to hear what you think of the Schneider- Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 5.5/360 lens as well.

Secret Takumar business .
On the 7 element lens the IR mark is to the left of the 4 on the DOF scale.
On the eight element lens it is to the right of the 4 as per here:
