...a year ago I picked up a MD W.Rokkor 35 / 1.8 for 15€ in excellent condition but one flaw: the filter thread has a dent...

I found it in local online ads where it was listed as "Minolta 35mm Lens"
I was lucky to be the first one to call...

I have both and there is no difference in sharpness, at least to me... Color cast is slightly yellowish on the 7-element one even after de-yellowing it with IR lamp but no big deal. I didn't do much of the comparison but this was the first impression I had. If your super-tak is in excellent condition then just go and enjoy it. You will love that is focusing very close.

P.S. I will send soon my 8-element for servicing and after I may look into which one is sharper. 7 or 8-elemnet version.

No. Not looking that hard, but if I stumble upon the right deal... one to write about here, I'll bite. I've wanted to sell many of my lenses, but since have only sold one and bought nearly ten. How does that happen?

What I should also report is a Series 1 lens I got for free. Craigslist Ad in Canada. I called and asked how much and the fellow said he was just looking to give it away. I agreed to his price and arranged FedEx to pick it up so he wasn't inconvenienced at all. FedEx ended up billing me more than $70, so does it still qualify?

question:

I've got offer for:

- CZJ Tessar 2.8/50 zebra exa mount + Exa1 for 25$ (i've already got 2 tessars M42 & 1 exa)
- Pentacon 50/1.8 MC M42 + Praktica MTL3 for 8$ (yeah, got few of them, both meyers & pentacons)
- Helios 44-2 for 10$ (1 in my collection)
- Helios 44M for 25$ + unknown Praktica (4...)
- Industar 50-2 for 15$

seems they are all in great shape, but money for hobby is an issue here in Croatia, so, i'll probably go for Pentacon & Industar, question is - should I go for all? (please say no, please no, please....)

Smile

No. You need more 50mm lenses like you need a hole in the head.
Also though fairly cheap the resale value of this lot is not 2 or 3x the asking price so its not a very good speculation.

Ok lenses but little expensive. Definitely not worth buying as an investment. If you were also collecting cameras I'd go for the Helios 44-m for the Praktica IV, the industar is probably the only lens worth buying.

My greatest finds are generally rarities at great prices.

Latest is a virtually impossible Warner 66, in beautiful physical, working condition, with a near mint Noritar 40/4 lens for $400.

Love it!

Ive gotten several good deals on ebay..

In the past year and half,Ive bought many Zeiss Ikon, Goerz, Orionwerks
6x9,9x12,5x7 cameras for like $25 to $50 in bad condition and completely
restored them and resold them for 2 to 3 times more.

I just bought a Meyer Optik Telemegor 250mm f5.5 (silver barrel) for $24...

I also recently got a Lot of over 30 cameras, and 50 lenses for $125 from some ebay seller
that had No clue what they had... In it were mostly Nikon,Canon and Minolta Manual and
some Autofocus lenses and quite a few older Nikon and Minolta Cameras.

The MF market in Norway is quite small, but occasionally good deals do pop up, especially in charity shops and flea markets. Prices are all-over-the-place, but the rush of finally finding something is always worth it. Here are some of my best finds:

Canon FD 15/2.8 - $90
Found this at a Norwegian site for used equipment. The ad had been out for over a month, so I was amazed the seller still had it!

Canon FD 55/1.2 S.S.C. and Sigma 600/8 for C/Y - $165
These were just casually lying together in a local charity shop. The Sigma came in its original case with all filters, and the 55 was near mint. They even threw in an awesome bag shaped like a package of Kodak film and a Canon leaflet with pictures of most FD lenses.

Canon T90 with 50/1.2L and 80-200/4L - $300
From a Norwegian site. I believe the seller used to be a journalist, so cosmetically not in the best shape and the back element on the 50mm had a tiiiny crack, but still! These things are next to impossible to find over here.

Canon AE-1 with 24/2.0, 50/1.4 and 85/1.8 - $200
Again, from a Norwegian site. Original hoods for all the lenses, really nice condition.

Olympus OM-2 with 24/2, 35/2, 50/1.4, 50/3.5, 135/3.5, a Vivitar zoom and loads of accessories (bellows, angle finder+++) - $400
A bit over my budget, but everything was in such perfect condition I just had to have it. A friend of mine picked it up for me, so I haven't been able to test it yet. Really looking forward to, though!

Olympus OM-1 with 50/1.8 - $15
From a local flea market. Came with a really nice Olympus bag.

Pentax Super A with 28/2.8, 50/1.4, 3 decent zooms, a couple of cases and a Pentax flash with original diffusers - $15
Found this in a local charity shop. Everything was near mint, obviously from an owner who showed great care for his equipment. I sold the 50mm for around $130, got $100 for the body with one of the zooms and $25 for the flash with diffusers. The rest will be sold eventually.

Wow, just...wow... Every week, I have a regular route that covers all of the thrift/charity shops in Stavanger. My last stop on Friday was one of the bigger ones, but I didn't find anything of interest. Today, a guy stopped by to buy one of my Nikkor-NEX adapters, and (naturally) we started talking about old lenses and cameras. Now, guess what? Apparently, he went to the same thrift store on Friday, just around an hour before me and picked up a MINT Nikkor AiS 50mm/1.2 and TWO really nice Contax T2 cameras. And the price? Less than $50 total! I'm taught not to envy other people, but I seriously don't know wether to cry or laugh. Anyways an almost too-good-to-be-true bargain, surely one for the books. Aaand it shows that it is still possible to make good deals "in the wild", which encourages to keep looking!

Well, the best bargain so far was a 2nd Yashica ML 28/2.8 in good condition for 39 EUR, no scratches, no fungus onto the lens,
slightly used Lens body.

I found a Leica 180/3.4 Apo in good condition for 450 euros. Not the bargain of the year but still... Not bad considering its usual price. It was sitting in the used photo gear in a big and well established photo shop in France. Everything else was expensive. So, bargains are still possible, not only in fleamarkets !

The lens is really something... I took a walk with it yesterday and I m very impressed by the results.

Sigma 70-210 f4-5.6 UC Zoom

Soft Case for Lens
