I remember drooling over a Honeywell Pentax sales booklet as a young electronics engineering aide in early 1970s. (I should scan that booklet because it lists prices) The ES with S-M-C 1.4/50 was US$650 a huge chunk of change back then. The engineers were discussing the S-M-C coatings, how they work, as engineers are want to do about new scientific developments, and the booklet was freely passed around. I soooo wanted to get into photography then, but cameras, film, development, and prints cost more than I could afford. Waaay back burner for that notion. I didn't get the chance until about 5 years ago... After a co-worker showed me his new Kodak digital (1m pixel?) I decided when digital cameras got close to film quality I'd go for it. Canon XT was my first real camera, with Sigma 1.4/30. Contemplating which lens to get next I decided on 200L because it was least-expensive L lens, so I went on ebaY and discovered in an auction that M42 film-era lenses could easily be adapted to Canon bodies. A little research and an M42 3.5/135 Takumar led to an extremely virulent LBA infection, and, well, here I am today.

Well, the 55 and the 135 are fine for some uses, the worst of the 135 is that it´s unusable in hard light until f5.6 (CA and ghosting with white tones), and they are a bit soft but the bokeh is outstanding. I did sold the 35 without trying it. |

Oh well, that compensates for the moments I paid too much to satisfy my LBA in the heat of the moment...
