My first real bargain... Today I got a Tair 11A in nice shape for 300kn (~50 USD). Smile

Not exactly a spectacular deal like some from this thread, but I think it's good as the prices on ebay are mostly around 120-170$.

Looking forward to comparing it to Sonnar 135/3.5. Very Happy

I thought even a 645N body without lens more expensive.

That's why I pounced. The 75/2.8 has cosmetic issues, but optically great, so I pretty much got the standard kit for free. Can't beat free Very Happy

Now, I have shot a Pentax Spotmatic F, Pentax K-7, 6x7, and P645, so I've shot pretty much all the different size Pentax cameras ever... except for the Auto 110 Very Happy

The best bargains are... a couple I just missed in the last couple days.

I was inattentive. I blame politicians. Duh. I don't want to talk about it.

My latest bargain was a Agfa Isomat Rapid rangefinder with hardcase. Condition is near mint. Bought local, so no shipping for $1 USD.

Welp, I guess "free" qualifies as a big bargain, even though the item may not be worth all that much to begin with.

I was at a yard sale earlier today, and picked up this Minolta Hi Matic AF2, idly giving it the once-over. Very clean, almost no signs of use. Batteries were dead, though. So the lady puts new batteries in it, and still nothing. So, she gave it to me, figuring it was junk. I didn't particularly want it, but I didn't want to be impolite. Took it home, checked that the batteries were fresh (they were), and then used a pencil eraser on the battery contacts. Yeah, you know the rest. Works perfectly Smile

I would have preferred a manual-focus one, but I reckon I can't complain. I'm guessing maybe early 1980s because of the logo -- which first appeared in 1981.

Sweet camera in beautiful condition. I've seen nice pictures out of that model. Give it a try you will probably like it. Pretty sharp lens on it, by the way.
I've got a couple Konicas, but I haven't found any of the Hi-Matics local yet.

Thanks for the feedback Walter. I've shot with a Hi Matic E before -- auto exposure, manual focus -- and it was actually a decent picture taker. So I expect this one will be good too.

I've been VERY lucky with some of my finds, usually at Goodwill, but my most recent are quite good - one was an Olympus S500 super zoom for 14.95 dollars - it was marked 'as is' although it looked new. They said that there was something jammed in the card slot as they could not get their 'tester' SD card in..

Hmm I mused and paid up on the spot (minus 10% old farts' discount) and took it home.

Fitting a fresh 512mb FUJI style card in made it work like a charm. Those Fuji / Olympus cards are now so 'rare' that most folk have never seen one!

So.. immaculate as new for 14.95 when they retail used for 150 or more?

My second was a Kodak 'only a mother could love' Kodak Model 35 rangefinder in good but dusty condition, with a 'bag of bits' (which just happened to include an Elmar lens) from the same store two days later.. cost? $1.99 and NO I am NOT telling you which store!!! Smile Smile

Doug.
