Ok here is my first try with the V700. This was one of the nights that I did moonlight frames at witchpark. The top image is the 67 with 55mm f3.5. The second is 40D with Zuiko 21/2. Both roughly 28mm on 35mm camera (75 degrees?). The film was Fuji Portra S 160. Please let me know what your first impressions are. Feedback and comments are much needed.

Well now that I see them both in the reduced size for upload, it looks like exposure is much different. These are both originals with no adjustments. I will adjust the 40D shot in raw for exposure and replace this one. Anyway I'll leave it up for all to view. Wink

67 w 55/3.5

40D w 21/2

The way it is right now, I'll take the first one, the film version. Nice job!
Is that your spaceship I see taking off into the sky in #1? Fulfills some
theories I have... Laughing

It looks like you have greater exposure range in your film, for starters.

Or maybe thats just because your raw image needs some processing to get the same range ?

So here is the 40D shot with a plus + 1 1/3 stop exposure in raw. It is damn near impossible to get things looking similar with simple global adjustments. My verdict is Film is more natural. The space ship is of course a star trail. Most of the other bright spots are dust or other schmagg from development. This is a first go so hopefully things will get better. I like the cooler rendering from the 67 55mm and film Smile

Yep, I still like the film version, better. And star trail works, too, you bet. Wink

I love them all, and at this size, both film and digital seem equally effective to me.

Shadow detail seems better on the Pentax 67 shot. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

For me the film version definitely has the edge.

my 2c for film, 40D is more dark perhaps if you pp 40D version to lighter it will equal ... but now film is better.

I'd go along with the praise for the film version, but the digital one (exposure corrected) would stand on its own if the film version wasn't there, as we saw with your digital shots last week.

Yes thats true and yes, thank you. I like the picture (first one Very Happy ). I noticed this comparing my Pentax K100D 6Mpx sensor (the same found on Pentax *ist series, Konica Minolta digital SLRs and Nikon D70/s, Nikon D50 and Nikon D40 cameras) to Fuji Reala 100 film (but not only with this). I'll make some shots, using the same settings of the same scene to see the differences Wink

Good stuff! I look forward to seeing more varieties on the same theme. I too, like the film rendition, at least as can be shown on a web-reduced image. This is surely a nice location you have found!
