I still reach for the Meyer 58mm Primoplan F1.9 (M42). Due to its low contrast it's hard to focus on the ground glass screen and it needs a contrast boost in PP, but other than that it's a joy to use. I actually like its bokeh and it's sharper in the center than the 58mm F2 Takumar (Sonnar type).

Mine is an early postwar version, by the way.

Looks pretty good to me Peter! Mine sit aroundunused, so I guess I should give 'em a try once again.

At least for such portrait it is great. The picture is very nice, the lens used for sometning it fits perfectly. Challenging glass to get a good image with, I think. Honour to the photographer.

Peter, I could say that the lens is a stunner, but I won't, because any lens that happens to be in your hands becomes a stunner.
So I have to conclude that I find this thread completely useless for the evaluation of the Primoplan Razz Laughing Wink

That's it, from now on I'll only post the crappiest pics of the day. Laughing

I've been a bit off from this forum due to my busy job, and the fact that I was in one of my "AF periods" again (resulting in me now owning many of the best AF lenses Pentax ever made), but my MF love is acting up again. So hopefully you won't mind a few more photos from me in the future Wink

I'm currently restoring my Bessa RF with Heliar lens and since I have more than enough film in the freezer...

I like it!

I've just "rescued" one of these lenses! It was in the bottom of a box and the focussing ring was seized. I cleaned it up and it now focusses, but I'll have to find something to lubricate it with.

Looks like I have another nice lens to add to my collection, now I need to improve my skills to use it Very Happy
