I've grown up in the low-lands, apr. 50 km in the west of Vienna, close to the Danube river. But every summer in my childhood my parents went with us to Mariazell for 2 weeks. Later, when I served for several years in the army I spent a lot of my time in the mountains. I served at the signals and so I had the "luck" to participate twice a year at "TALPA". Summer at the Dachstein was like holidays but the Winter at the Wattener Lizum was less funny. Laughing Also skiing with leather-boots, rucksack and the old StG 58 was very "sport".

Thank you tobbsman, your guide is excellent.

But your comment about the lens length make me realize that the use of a flek 20 with a FF would be a problem [distortions]. Sad

It doesn't need to stop you using the flek. It's a quite well-corrected lens, anyway, but if edge distortion is a problem (I've not used one for a pano) then you can crop the middle out of all the pictures and use that, just as long as you take enough to ensure you have the necessary overlap.

The great thing about stitched panos is that you don't need wide angle lenses. I've got a great 90 degree pano shot with an 80mm telephoto on a 5D, it joined up beautifully.

@ Andreas
Your stories about your times in Austria sound very exciting. "skiing with leather boots" Shocked I heaven't experienced that Smile

I guess the landscape near viena is very interesting too, unfortunately that part of Austria I don't know too well.

@Magnet-2009
Very, very true what Paul writes.

It's also a matter of taste. The result will be on the surrealistic side if you will your the Flek 20/2.8 with FF for a panorama.
Problem of the Flek is: it's really really sharp in the center and quite soft on the edges.
Therefor I prefer using the SMC A 20/2.8 for pano, which is razor-sharp all around the frame. However I prefer the mood that the Flek is giving Smile

Cheers
Tobias

@ Andreas, tobbsman thank you.

I like very much the result of flek 20 in your pano and the mood is perfect. Wink
