I have this lens and love it. used to have two copies now one of them belongs to Attila. Smile
You really make it look like a Leica Summilux (n/k)

First one is really impressive, if someone said to me it was shot with a 1.4/80 Summilux I would have "bought" that no doubt.

It is a picture that shows that in the hands of a great photographer, even a cheap Tair can look like an expensive Leica lens.

Thanks guys! The Tair is a nice lens with its own character. I like the round diaphragm which is located near the front group. It's a well built lens which focuses easily, and focusing on a 5D is a breeze.

I'll try to use more of my lenses on the 5D, each day a different lens. There's no better way to improve your photography than to limit yourself to one lens!

As a tool: yes. As a camera: no. Pentax really has the edge here (but that's just my opinion of course).

Not much, really... In Photoshop:

1. Convert from RAW (I ALWAYS shoot RAW)
2. Resize to web size
3. Unsharp mask
4. Add the black border

That's all!

Let me add the following observation: since owning the Canon 5D I'm more than ever convinced of the fact that 35mm SLR lenses should be used on the format they were intended for. Then everything comes togeter (bokeh for a given distance, FOV, etc.).

This is also my workflow. Except I use Breezebrowser for the first step.
I am a big fan of the KIS (keep it straight) and as close to the original shot as possible. I place care in taking the photo right before I click the shutter (exposure, colours etc), so normally I don't need PP. Of course sometimes (too often than I would like) I make mistakes too and then I need to rescue Embarassed
Browsing the forums I notice that the pictures I prefer come from other people who like me are keeping it straight. I like when the emphasis is on the composition, the capturing of the moment, and in mastering the lighting before shooting, rather than on the post work. I respect much the post work (there are some true masters of those techniques), but it is not for me.

I always enjoy seeing the use of DOF other than in macro shots.

What were the parameters for unsharp mask? Did you apply to the face only or the whole picture?

All the more superb for being so simple and uncluttered.
