The only ones I have that could be considered pretty in any way really are my 1960s Petris. If this thread had been about ugly lenses, I have lots of those!

These are beautiful lenses indeed.

You can start an ugly thread to Ian Wink

The Quinar is indeed lovely, makes me want some Schneider lenses!

+1 for the Quinar choice ... It is by far my best 135mm, much better than my Takumars, Pentax-K, Sonnar, Xenar and the like ...

"For me the old champion" Oh no, uhoh7, I still like that one better.

As for mine, it would have to be the big Orestegor 300mm, followed by the ISCO 150mm and then Jupiter-11 and Tair-11 tied.

Interesting that you say that; have you shared your results from that lens?

Well, you might not think it's sexy (and neither do I!) but it's probably the best looking piece of glass that I have...

beautiful as optical results, or beautiful aesthetically?
just to understand - because I would give completely different answers Smile

Decisions...decisions...a few I desired for some time & finally picked up.

A second Nikkor 200mm f2 IF-ED N....my first copy is getting long in the tooth.

As to Orio's comment optically...a few modern favorites...

Zeiss 21/2.8

Tokina 11-16/2.8

and one old favorite....

Canon EF 28-70mm f2.8 L

Well, it's impossible for me to compete with a setup like Boomer's but nonetheless, here are my two current favorites:

Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 SSC Aspherical

Canon FD 400mm f/4.5

And another close favorite, my Tokina AT-X 100-300mm f/4 SD

Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 SSC Aspherical Shocked Shocked Shocked

For exterior beauty, I love the old Takumar 135/3.5 pre-set, with its bands
of chrome and black enamel. Also, the typical Takumar alternating
"ribs" on the focusing ring are classically beautiful to me.

I rotated the image so that the lens shows a little bit better. Smile

this is such a fantastic lens, I use this shot as my avatar on flickr Smile

I LOVED this lens, but I got such a great deal on it I sold it as i didnt want to ruin it by converting it to pentax, and the $$$ paid for 30% of my m8 !

if we are talking physical beauty, I really like this one:

Wow, I really like this display. It ranges from the plain jane to the super exotic, and the photography is great!

Klaus, have you gotten anyone to translate the Japanese on your Takumar's box? I can read a little bit of it 37th year, 10th month. That's probably when it was made, and the 37th year will be the 37th year of the reign of the emperor, Hirohito. There's a bit of kana there too, but I'm rusty on my kana. I can translate it, but I'd have to pull out my Tuttle dictionary and it would take hours Cool . Maybe Koji might not mind?
