two weeks ago, I followed an auction with a Praktica camera and a Pancolar 1.8/80 lens. Paypal was not supported so I decided to follow the auction knowing that many competitors from USA and Asia would have not taken part to the game.
In fact I was right and I won the auction for "only" 314 Euros. The lens has some brassing but optically and mechanically is perfect and it's worth double of what I paid for it!
Here's my first shots with it:

Thank you!
I made this tests for the Pancolar, but what is impressing me really are the colours of the 5DMark II. The colours in photo #03 are exactly as in the real life. These are very difficult delicate shades of wood and bronze that so far I was never able to create with photographs.
As for the lens, I want to test it with portraits. So far, I feel happy about it. It has the Planar basic qualities, with perhaps a bit less sharpness wide open, but in change, with a quieter bokeh. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Superb. A once-in-a-lifetime lens with a fantastic price, coupled with a photographer who extolls the artistry of photography, results in instant classics. _________________

For sure my living room has lots of contrast between the daylight from the big glass, and the darkness inside.
Other shots (like the elderberry flowers) show that the lens has a good contrast, although not as good as the Contax lenses - but good enough, I would say.
I used a metal hood on all photos - a good habit! _________________ Orio, Administrator

That lens has a dreamy quality to it that can make you think it is not sharp, but the detail is all there. And please do not keep tempting us with the MkII - I could dismiss the MkI fairly easily because I felt it offered little over the cameras I have - but that machine!

No, no trouble thanksfully. I can reach infinity and perhaps a bit beyond with my adapter (AF chip beeps at infinity, but liveview shows that I need to step back a tiny little from infinity to have perfect focus on faraway objects).
If instead you mean if I have mirror clash, no, that also does not happen luckily. It's a perfectly compatible lens with 5DMkII. _________________ Orio, Administrator

It has a very classy image look. Not aggressive. Not weak either. It does best, I think, in the close range (portrait range). It delivers beautiful colours there. I did not touch the colours in any way in my samples. Those with the frame, are AdobeRGB conversions to PhotoPro and from PhotoPro to sRGB for web output. These path has provided with very smooth gradation of tones, that you can see in the bronze and wood objects.
The following images are quick screen grabs from the Breezebrowser Pro preview. They are therefore direct sRGB captures from preview.
In any case this lens does great with the "half hues" of interiors, old objects, and evening daylight.
Next step will be to try it in full sunlight, when sun will come back _________________ Orio, Administrator
