Some shots in Kyoto, camera is D700 and all Jpeg outputs.
No comments, this city is old and modern...

From Kyoto today

Ahh, good ol' Kyoto. If you're staying near the Nishiki Ichiba, check out the tiny sushi place "Sakai" (さか井)for lunch. It's on Takakura, right off of Nishiki. Great, 4-seater sushi place Smile

Clean! And beautiful colors as well. I love these shots showing the "everday" life in Japan. And it really helps to have a photographer with your wonderful skill, Koji.

Thanks guys, I will stay in Kyoto one more day then go back to Tokyo.
It is very hard to organize what I have shot so far, the whole display
will be after I return to Toronto.

Yes, D700 + D 28/2 ZF is a little heavy side but the result make me
to forget that. Very Happy

This Distagon 2/28 ZF has a more than bit of curved image plane,
and a barrel distortion, which shows clearly sometime. Crying or Very sad
But bokeh at F2 seems look nice so far, though I have not tried much.

I was looking for your report on the lens Koji.
It's a bit of a letdown to learn that the new 2/28 has noticeable barrel distortion. The old Hollywood had some, but very slight.
How is the performance at close focus? The old Hollywood had floating elements to improve performance at close focus. I guess the new lens has probably kept this important feature.

Hi Orio,

I will put up more square shots later, so wait for that till I return to home.
You can postpone the conclusion.... Very Happy

The fist shot was @f5.6 or 8 (i have not checked EXIF), the second shot
is @f2. The second was not focused to this wood block, sorry for that.
Bokeh is not bad at all, but I have to shoot more for this too.

By the way (again!), this is very famous cutlery store circa 1560 (yes 1560),
the original person, who started the shop, is a sword blacksmith.

Some really watchable shots of city life. I find this kind of stuff fascinating.
