... going for a snowy tour yesterday.

It is very rarely that there are so cold periods like now
in the middle of summer. It was snowing heavily in
the high Alps the last days.
That gives a really special mood.
The landscapes look like phographed in winter,
but if one looks closer that can't be ...

- all of this stuff is stiched panorama with SMC K 24/2.8

- with some photographs the attention was to create a kind of
bird's eye perspective, ... as it would be photographed out
of an airplane.

- aim and peak of the tour Medelzkopf (2760m)

Yes, very common for mountain lakes this turquoise/green-like color. I actually never though about why they appear in this special color.

has anybody an idea?

Cheers
Tobias

Water from glaciers give green water Wink
We have lots of it in Norway and many rivers change color in mid/ late summer from blueish to greenish when the melt water comes from the glaciers Very Happy

Number 7 is stunning. Wink

Great shots! Really gorgeous ones.

One question - we were discussing with colleagues about that yesterday: how much snow did you get? Over the week-end, we had about 60mm of rain in the plain, and it definitely snowed above 2'000-2'500m and we were wondering how much snow this would make.

thanks Stan and ylyad !

@ylyad
the snow line here was at 1800-1900m.
it's hard to say which amount of snow because there was much wind too which makes the estimation quite difficult. But when I was walking inbetween those blanc rocks my legs got down about 40-50 cm.
At one point I made a step and my right foot totally disappered Smile
so it's just a matter how the wind shuffels the snow together ...

Cheers
Tobias

Snow volume is a variable and depends on many things, but a 12-1 ratio is usually used.
60mm x 12 = 72cm fresh snow Smile

1 to 12 is a good ratio, but without taking into account wind, melting and settlement. I've read that 12 would be max., 4 being min. And as we are in summer, I was wondering if this staid true.

Thanks Tobias. Woaw, 40-50 cm end of July, largely below 3000m, that's amazing!!!
