I wondered if anyone here has such a lens (M42),
esp. the 90mm or 125mm versions.

I have the older Nikon version of the 90/3.5 and love it. Solid build, smooth action, sharp, nice colours and nikon like contrast.

Wonderfully saturated colors, excellent micro-contrast and beautiful out of focus rendering, that's my verdict.

Klaus
Sebastien (Abbazz) has posted some very impressive results from the 125 and 180 (maybe the 90 also)
You could maybe search his postings to take a look
Those frames caused me to covet the 125 macro but for one thing THE PRICE!
Since this lens has been discontinued the market for it has skyrocketed
The price for an eos version of the lens is seldom under $1200 Mad
For those digits I would rather the new ZF 2/100 Macro Planar at nearly the same $'s

Thanks guys, I have a chance to maybe get a 90mm (bit older). I've seen some stunning images, but heard not so good about the mechanical quality of these CV lenses...

Patrick's photos with the 90mm speak for themselves, look for them in the MFLenses galleries, superb photos of impressive quality, that is one lens that I would have loved to have. Also I like much the 90mm focal lenght.

Klaus,

I have the Voigtländer 125/2.5 and 180/4 in Pentax K mount. Mechanically, they are very well built, with smooth operation and tight tolerances. I also love the black and chrome finish as well as the nice bayonet lens shades that remind me of the Contarex lenses. The results from both lenses are always stunning, in the close focus range as well as when used as longer range lenses. Here are the links to some of my posts with pictures taken with these lenses:

Yes
Those are the ones I remember
Beautiful Abbazz thanks for pulling them to the surface
It seems that Mr K really is dedicated to IQ above all else
Everything that I've seen from the CV line has been at the very least Above the pack and some that are exceptional.
These two (125 and 180) did not cost a fortune when still available
It is a shame they have been discontinued

Fantastic shots + results Abbazz!!

Since I have some opportunities (and astonishingly cheap), I guess I will try and get one or two, test them and if I should not like them, sell them again - but I guess that won't happen!!

Thank you Klaus for the kind words. If you can have these lenses for a good price, get them quick! You could always sell them for much more money but, as you said, I doubt you will Wink

Cheers!

Abbazz

I have the 125mm APO Macro. It is stunning. I like the lower contrast in comparison to my Canon Macro and the bokeh is much smoother. This has become my favorite lens.

I have been very satisfied with my SL 180/4. Here are some full resolution samples (D3, D70) for those of you interested:

Just quick shots half an hours ago, there was univ. student demonstration.

The top one was 1/250, the bottom one 1/90 sec. both @f4.
The lens used is CV Apo-Lanther 90/3.5 with Leica M8, AE-mode,
it is sharp and has a nice bokeh, it was windy today due to weather change.
