Fantastic results with Contax G2 and lab scans

Here's a picture taken with Contax G2 on Ferrania 200 cheap film. (resized)
It was scanned in 15 minutes at a film lab in Parma:

Here follows the original scanner's resolution (as a link). No sharpening applied, this is exactly what is on the lab's DVD:

Look at the textures!
Especially impressive considering it was shoot under the falling rain, holding the camera with just one hand.
Of course it's not just the lab, the lens used also plays a role (Zeiss Biogon 21mm) Wink

Rangefinder ... and one of the best ... or best... I found also rangefinders can make better quality even with cheap films than SLR.

That's not bad at all - if they're turning them out like that there's hardly any point in scanning them yourself, but as you say the lens did make a difference. Was the scanning automatically included in the price?

The price was 9.90 Eur for developing and scanning + DVD and contact sheet.

Ok that's not cheap in absolute terms, but if you consider the time needed for scanning or photographing 36 exposures, and considering the quality, I think it's a good deal.

of course, to be used only for those rolls that deserve it (that is, rolls with a good subject, not test rolls or rolls with 2 good photos and 34 junk photos).

That's a bearable price for a roll of worthwhile stuff, yes. I'm paying about that for a pro lab to process c-41, with no scans. For more point and shoot film or testing, I just bung it into my local minilab and it's a couple of euros less.
My film usage is very slow just now and I tend to keep it for things I want to preserve more of. I have several rolls in use and I can foresee them all needing processed at the same time Rolling Eyes
