Laurence, that image is a masterpiece. I really would like to see it printed large, too! But even a digital enlargement would not hurt Wink

OK, this is my 16 Euros camera:

I am impressed by how new it looks. It really looks like Marty Mc Fly brought it here directly from 1952. You can even still see the Agfa film sticker inside the camera door - INTACT!
That guy knew how to store a camera.

SO -any tips on how to use it? There are little buttons and switchers that I don't know what they're there for. Amazingly complex for a pre-digital camera. I am cautious because with these cameras you can really make some damages if you do things the wrong way. Does anybody know of any online manual?

BTW, images taken with Makro-Planar. A really scary lens.

Laughing
It belonged in fact to the father of the guy who sold it to me. Perhaps because of what happened to me, I immediately felt bound to this lens. I also wrote the seller that I will much respect this camera because first, it belonged to a person who had obviously a special respect for it, and secondly, I would love if someone would take care of the things that belonged to my father (and there are many out here, as he sold a lot of his art collection).
He was very happy to learn that the camera has ended with a person that will appreciate and respect it.

Orio - you can access an online manual from here http://www.certo6.com/cam/record.html.

Thanks Steve.
This is exactly what I needed!

Am I correct in guessing (by looking at the images in the manual) that the film is loaded in a REVERSE DIRECTION than normal Question Question Question Question Question Question Question Question

(where normal is left from right)

Also: my model has no rangefinder Sad

Yours (like mine) is a Record II where the manual is for a Record III. You can get add on rangefinders like the one fitted to my camera.

Really? Dothey have to be specific for this camera or generic ones will work also?

I think they will work well only if the lens focal lenght is settable on the viewfinder - right?

Are you going for those in the last link I suppose? (I noticed your bid).

The previous ones look rather rough.

The focal length shouldn't matter I think as all the rangefinder needs to tell you is what distance away the subject is.

Right. Now that I think about it, my question was a really idiot one. Embarassed

yes - but you need it more than me (I've got one already) so if you want to bid on them let me know and I won't bid again (I've only bid a maximum of Ł1 initially).

Thanks Steve, you can go on with it, I'll look for another one or perhaps I'll look for a laser viewfinder, since I always desired one.

I have found a good old one for auction, but I don't post the link here because this forum is not private.

Actually I suggest that you erase your link if you don't want to have more competitors for it.

Orio, the camera looks in as good if not better shape than mine that
had a CLA done! Gosh what a great buy!

Your distance focus is in meters, make sure the hotshoe-mounted
rangefinder is in meters, unless you're good at conversions in your
head...

Very wise advice, Bill! I will ask the seller.

Now what about the film advance - is it really reversed direction?

Yes, it is, goes the same direction as my Agfa Isolette 4.5. No worries,
the world doesn't turn upside down or anything...LOL

Orio, check to see if your cam has the mask for 6x4.5

No Bill, what you see is what I got Wink

Okay, first question is about film advancing and shooting.
How do I tell when I advanced film enough between exposures? The manual wouldn't say. The sound of the blocking mechanism released comes too soon, it surely does not mean a complete advance. But the film knob (contrarily to my Super Ikonta) does not automatically stop when you have reached the right amount of advance.

Orio, advance the film to the red window on the left. You will have to
peer closely for the number as not to go too far, as there is no positive
stop to help you (as you mentioned). If you had the mask, you would
advance the film first to the right window, take the picture, then advance
film to the left window, giving you 16 exposures to a 120 roll.

What left window, Bill? I only have one window, and it's in the right, it's red, and has a strange lever next to it.
Sad

My bad, I confused it with my Voigtlander Bessa E. Then it's easy, just
advance to the window, the lever to the left opens/closes the window
cover (I open for advance, then close).

What do I see, in the window, that lets me understand that I reached the correct point? A naked woman? Laughing

You will see a big #1, #2, and so on, centered in the window.

Very beginner question: but if the 120 roll is the same that is used for 6x6 cameras, how can I be sure that the numbers I will be seeing are right for 6x9 spacing?
