I'm quite pleased with this recent auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150157473672&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=005

Erroneously listed as "close focusing" actually CF means "continuous
focusing" but who cares, it's supposed to be pretty good performer! Smile

It also says: "It has an f/32 maximum aperature..." Laughing

Yes, it certainly does! Laughing Kind of makes you wonder how much this
guy knows about his own equipment! Rolling Eyes

Here's a sample pic from this lens using natural lighting. This is a pic
of my Voigtlander Bessa Rangefinder 6X9:

Almost finished with a roll of Fomapan ISO200 BW film, so hope to have
some pics to post in the film section.

The picture looks very nice and the price is certainly right Laughing. These Tamron compact zooms really deliver outstanding quality relatively to their price.

By the way, nice Bessa, Bill. Is it the Helomar lens?

Cheers!

Hi Abbazz!
Yes, it's the Helomar lens. I've seen conflicting info where this is below
the Skopar in quality or near the Heliar in quality. Do you know where
it is in the lineup? Thanks for your comments.

Bill, the Helomar-equipped Bessa E (the original name of the Bessa RF in German) was the entry level model in the series.

The Helomar is a triplet lens, the Skopar a 4 glass lens and the Heliar a 5 glass lens. There is almost no difference between these lenses if you stop down to f/8. I prefer the rendering of the triplet lenses or the Heliar, their derivative 5 element cousin, to the rendering of Tessar formula lenses (like the Skopar). When used wide open, I find the bokeh of these 3/5 element lenses better looking, even if a good Skopar/Tessar delivers somewhat sharper images. All these lenses have exactly the same number of glass-air interfaces, so there is no difference due to the absence of coating.

Cheers!

Hi Katastrofo, congrats!... Really good price.
Is it an Adaptall-2 mount one?.
Best regards,
Jes.

Jesito,
Yes, Adaptall-2 mount. Peter (peterqd) luckily had the Nikon adapter
so everything worked out great! All my Tammies so far have there own
adapters.

I have bought this lens for 17 Euros.
I hope it's as good copy as yours Bill.

Important question: does this lens have an aperture pin like M42 lenses?
If I use an Adaptall-2 ring for Canon EOS (I found them), will I have to operate surgery on the lens?

Orio, your adaptall-2 mount is native, shouldn't be a problem at all.
Hope you like it! I honestly can't tell the difference between this and the
35-80 SP lens when it comes to colors, sharpness--both are excellent!

Bill, I am not sure about it.
This is the description of the Adaptall-EOS :

Quote:
For using Canon EOS cameras with Tamron lenses. It supports infinity focus.

You should remember that the pusher with the fixed ring doesn't work, so diaphragm control of the lens is set manually. It is possible to use Macro rings and other accessories.

What will they mean by "You should remember that the pusher with the fixed ring doesn't work, so diaphragm control of the lens is set manually. " Question

Orio,
Are you using the Roxsen adapter:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamron-Lens-to-Canon-EOS-for-30D-350D-400D-300D-Adapter_W0QQitemZ180165889508QQihZ008QQcategoryZ30059QQcmdZViewItem

I thought the adaptall-2 was for EOS cameras where no other adapter
is needed, but perhaps there is no such thing for Canon EOS. The
Nikon Tamron adaptall works great for either DSLR or on my EM, as it
is a true native mount for AI/AI-S lenses.

Here's another link:

Perhaps it simply means you will have to manually adjust fstop on the
lens in regards to AF lenses where their electronics would be effectively
decoupled by the mechanical adapter.

No, I am thinking of buying one for this lens. It would spare me the need of adding another converter and this by the way greatly reduces the risks of losing infinity focus.
But if I can not stop down the lens, then there is no point.

Orio, if you have a Tamron adaptall-2 for EOS, that is all you need for
any film or digital EOS camera, it is a native mount. It will be like any
other EOS lens, except you will have to stop-down manually.

I've just posted in the links section two sellers of Tamron-EOS adapters I've used. Both get infinity focus (it's not an issue with Tamrons anyway, since their native rear FL is something like 55mm) but the newly-arrived jinfinance ones are better in quality than the cirrusadapter one I'd been using up til now.
Stopping down is perfectly normal - I think the seller was pointing out for the benefit of those who are used to auto-everything that auto isn't an option.

Orio, when you get it sorted, I think will like this lens a lot!

Here's a few more:

Yeah, what can I say...BUSTED! Laughing OK, tough guy, I cheated and
had to use the Helios (my favorite lens) but here it is:

I think if I was only allowed 2 lenses it would be the Helios 44-2 and 40. I
still have to acquire the 40, tho.

Is this a little better in focus? Not an easy shot having to crouch way
down to shoot this.
