Grooves in a vinyl LP record.

100X total magnification (to this image):


300X total magnification (just a sharpened crop of the previous image):


This is with an SMC takumar 50/1.4 on the end of a fully extended vivitar bellows attached to three kenko extension tubes. Flash illumination.

Bit soft, but this lens held up pretty well to the ridiculous magnification (another one I tried was much worse).

It all seems so crude now, and seeing that, it's astounding that stylii lasted as long as they did, or produced any sound at all.

What's the tune? My vote goes for 'Pictures of You" from the Poison Kiss album!

Hah, I had to go look that up on youtube. It was actually Todd Rundgren (which I don't like much, just some junk record a friend gave me).
