I hope you don't get tired of my fly photos...... It's just that I discovered macro photography only last summer, and now the little critters came to live again, I can't resist them....Surprised

Thank you again!

@ Roman: these shots are made with a 55mm lens at F19; of course a flash is needed.

EDIT: after comments of Himself--> it f16, not f19!!!

Fantastic macros again. I'm impressed.

Lovely. You have to be stacking the shots, using something like Helicon focus. So are the subjects alive?

That is strange.
I have the same lens. It goes only to f16.

Now I'm a bit perplexed. I feel sure I haven't got that DOF at f16 but DOF is a physical property that can't be messed with.

So am I Paul.
As I said I have the lens, I shot f/16, tripod, remote, mlu, no that DOF, nope.
I asked the OP if he used any stack software, no he didn't.
I still try to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Paul and Himself (would like to call you by your name, or otherwise say Youself...), do you use flash? I try to shoot at 1/125" at least, or rather 1/160" to 1/180". That will stop all motion. I guess - no offence meant at all Embarassed - that most macro shots are ruined by a small DoF combined with motion blur. One has to fire instantly when the subject is in focus, because the smallest movement of the camera brings the subject OoF. 1/180" does that for me, and this is impossible without flash. My macro skills began to grow once I started using flash. As you can see in several of the shots in my macro gallery, the Dof is really thin, and a forward-backward movement of the camera will bring larger parts of the subject OoF.... (The ones after the low-key photos are this seasons examples, shot handheld, with the use of flash).

Don't know if this helps?

Catalin, thank you!
I use the on-board flash of my dSLR with a DIY macro flash diffuser.

This is a great tutorial on your webpage - how to build the flash-difusor.Your incredible results incourage me to build a thing like that this week. Will it also work with my SMC A 100/2.8 Macro ?

Cheers
