Just got this lens and fiddled around with it just to see if it's good. It is! Smile

Wow. It is a very sharp lens and highly priced by collectors.

Very nice! First thing I noticed were the bokeh. Even though they are somewhat small, I find them to be quite pleasing. Good sharpness all the way to the corners, also. Were you using your 5D for these examples?

Thanks! Yes, I used my 5D for these shots. The best part is that there are no infinity issues at all with my (unshaved) 5D. So both the lens and the camera are unmodified.

Great results! Maybe Yashica did steal some secrets about the making of a certain 21mm .... Wink

Yashica studied many makers (especially Zeiss and Schneider's), this
lens is almost dead copy of SA 21mm/4 R lens, though Yashica used
two doublet instead of single element used Super Anguron 21mm
at the front and end elements. See Louis Lam's page: >http://louislam.photopage.org/Yashica/Yashica.htm

Probably because they tries to cost down or could not get the same
glass (too expensive?!).

To make ML 55/1.2, they studied very hard about Planar 50/1.4.
Anyway they (at Yashica) tried to impress Zeiss about their capability. Very Happy

Looks like an interesting lens. I like the want with the kid (your grandchild?) the most.

Thanks everyone! I have updated my first post with pictures of the lens itself.

BTW: those are not my grandchildren but my own children... I'm not that old! Though with my 40 years I'm probably one of the youngsters here hehe Very Happy
