I have a Pentax 645 and I'm pretty happy of it (all the P6 lenses are compatible with a simple adapter and camera meter work with them), I guess Mamiya is also pretty good, but I found out that newer models are a lot more expensive than Pentax. Adapter for P6 lenses also availabele.

Bronica is also good even if of slightly lower quality, I don't know if there's an adapter to use P6 lenses on it.

You forgot Contax 645, there's one on sale in very good condition at above 1000 euro. Imho the price difference is ridicolous, but you can have Zeiss lenses on it... or just switch directly to a new Hassy X series (they also work with film backs) and spare for a digital back Very Happy

Laughing Laughing Contax not an option due it's price level.

buy one that you can mount Pentacon 6 lenses upon.

what is the price for a Pentax 645 camera body?

i have a friend who has a few, and he is willing to sell them, but he does not know what is a fair price?

I think a VERY good body alone would go for about $200-$250 these days.

I have the Pentax 645, and for me it fits extremely well in my hands. And as Orio and Alessandro indicate, the availability of Pentacon 6 lenses gives you more options, although the Pentax-A lenses are simply fabulous.

I have a Bronica ETR-C which I enjoy. I have used an Mamiya M645
in the past and feel that the Bronica has slightly better build quality.
(That's just my subjective impression.)

The ETR-series are lens-shutter cameras while the the M645 is a focal
plane shutter in the body (but some Mamiya leaf shutter lenses are
available).

The ETR-C is usually a good bargain if you can find one. It doesn't
use interchangeable film backs, just film inserts like the early M645.
I don't need to switch film mid-roll so I don't care about having backs
and I like the cost savings. I also don't have to worry about dark slides.
The ETR-C is compatible with all ETR series lenses and accessories
except the backs.

The ETR-C is not the same as the ETRC. The ETR-C is later than
the ETRC and has a few more features.

I don't think so. As a host for alien lenses, only a FP shutter camera would be a reasonable option - and the older FP shutter Bronicas (up to ECTL) with their odd inset mount would make extremely bad hosts for other brand lenses.

Given their relatively short register distance, the Pentax 645 or a Mamiya 645/645pro would be best for this purpose.

Yes, I know them well. I am perfectly satisfied with my 6x9 Bessa folders. I am looking for 645 because I would test series of my P6 lenses. My first camera was a Pentacon Six , now I would try something different. Sometimes I would like to test 6x9 RF from Fuji too.

I found a cheap working P645 with both type of insert.I did bought it, 127 USD was a bargain in my opinion. I would test all my P6 lenses with this camera before I let them to go.
