My dream lens... the one that makes me a better photographer. That will be the next one I buy - sort of like free beer tomorrow.

Agreed. I would slightly rephrase as "the lens that will let me get closer than I am now to what I want to do".

Some Sinar lens. Then I would start building a LF camera from scratch.

I'm not sure, if any manufacturer ever offered such product, but I'd like to have lens with...
  1. macro 1:1 capability
  2. APO correction
  3. focal length around 70-75mm
  4. speed of f/2.x (2.8 would be enough, but 2.4-2.5 woud be better)
  5. optical formula with pleasant bokeh (e.g. Sonnar or similar)
  6. quality multi-coating
  7. rounded aperture blades

The one that gets pretty close is the Zuiko Auto Macro 2/90.

(That's a lens I would trade in most of my lenses for!)

Ah, forgot to mention that one (and I actually have it! Laughing). Not APO, though, and not 1:1. Such a hard set of criteria Very Happy

Right, but nevertheless a great performer.

Short distance ring and you're there. If you really need it.

Yeah, I saw that one, but I do not know anygthing about converted lenses. I was just talking about the AiS types. I am not ready to buy one yet. I am quite happy so far with the E 35/2, Nikkor 50/1.8 and short Soligor C/D zoom.
Right now, I am trying to sell gear to get a reliable LTM body such as a Canon P. I have too many cameras ...

ou rangefinder... looks nice cam. Once I want to try one rangefinder. Only for that feeling. For some street shooting or so.
About that conversion. If I can write somthing that... ai'd as you could hear that it is pre-ai converted to Ai lens either with whole aperture ring (possible factory replace) or only with grind away (dunno how it is correct in english =/) short from that ring for aperture reader in body. Sometimes happen that one made not really correct what I saw from pics.

Gotcha, Splee. I will stay away from such things.
I must say my FE2 is very "rangefinder" like in its size and layout.
Rangefinder shooting is all a state of mind anyhow. You can shoot "street" all day with an SLR.
In any case, I shoot the same way no matter what I shoot: I go to the light and see if a photo is there.
