I had it for quite a while, there's nothing special about it's performance, not particularly sharp or anything.

My list is too long and never ending Smile. Sometimes I am afraid of myself.

I guess my lens dreams must have been quite realistic since I have managed to obtain all but one of the lenses I wrote down in my wishlist at some point. There are, of course, always some interesting lenses that I would love to play with but for my needs I have almost everything. (I won't jinx the missing lens by mentioning its name, sorry. =)

***What is currently your dream lens?***

Ah for me it's simple and with a boring answer "what I don't know I don't miss" Wink I read about the great lenses you guys use and mention, but unless I try them for myself................................................

I can't say I have a dream lens, but I sure could use the following tools for a lot of work: Nikkor 35/1.4G and Nikkor 200/2G

I'm not sure, if any manufacturer ever offered such product, but I'd like to have lens with...
  1. macro 1:1 capability
  2. APO correction
  3. focal length around 70-75mm
  4. speed of f/2.x (2.8 would be enough, but 2.4-2.5 woud be better)
  5. optical formula with pleasant bokeh (e.g. Sonnar or similar)
  6. quality multi-coating
  7. rounded aperture blades

It's easier to make a "dream lens lineup" then choose just one focal length. But if I'd have to choose one lens right now, it would be either a Lanthar 125 or a Distagon 21. Very Happy

I don't have too extravagant a dream lens. An helios 40-2 in mint/EX+ condition, probably.

How about Shneider Cine Macro Tele-Xenar 3.5/75mm?
It is a besically Cine lens, so close to APO I hope.... Very Happy
For 1:1 you can make a tube for that whichever mount you get IMHO.

Or Kinoptik 2/100 apo macro. The both are very pricey thou.

Or if you use APS-C digital camera, you can settle with KERN Macro-Switar
1.8 or 1.9/50, macro can go only to 1:2 at most. These lens are APO design.

Hmmm, I just don't think one exists! 70-75mm lens is uncommon to begin with, so even ignoring that one (and looking at, say 50-100mm) you'd probably still have to compromise on one more criterion before finding a fit.

E.g.,
Leica-R Macro 60mm f2.8 (not APO, 1:2)
Leica Apo Summicron 90mm f2 (not macro)
Voigtländer Apo-Lanthar 90mm f3.5 (not macro, f3.5)
Schneider Apo-Symmar Makro 90mm f4 (1:2, f4)
Leica Apo Macro Elmarit 100mm f2.8 (1:2)
Minolta Macro 100mm f2.8 (not APO)

etc.

With that said, this may be your dream lens (though it also doesn't meet all your criteria, specifically, 1:1.5 & f4):

I have all but given up buying new lenses. However, if I had a Sony or Minolta body, my dream lens would certainly be the Sony/Minolta STF 135/2.8 (T4.5), which has a dream bokeh, see http://www.the135stf.net/ and take a look at the samples.
