BTW, the picture on the CameraQuest website also has an 8-digit serial (94300384).

Sanity may be in the making of a comeback to the aftermarket, or then it was a combination of after-Christmas brokeness and seller accepting bank transfer only: Mint boxed Macro APO-Lanthar 125/2.5 in Canon EF mount just sold on eBay from Germany for EUR 1,115 + shipping

Only the Nikon versions seems to keep the skyhigh prices, all the others seem to be not in demand...

I have reported my 125mm before and now it has got company ; 90mm APO Lanthar (nikon) serialnr: 9161519 - mint in box and 180mm APO Lanthar (nikon) serialnr: 9330572 - mint with lens hood, no box.

Welcome to the very limited "Three Sisters Club", as one gentleman on a Japanese forum called those who own all three rare lenses Laughing

Interestingly, those serials were already in the database (I must have picked them from those eBay auctions you won).

I see more and more those sold in Japan now. Is there something being overlooked
or are owners just converting them into cash at these crazy prices now??

Traditionally, the Japanese camera stores selling used equipment have been quite open to accept whatever for sale. The financial crisis in Japan has struck the private sector really bad, and my contacts say a lot of the stores simply don't accept for sale anything anymore - their shelves are so full of stuff that only high-end gear is accepted for sale.

Of course, this is as good or bad a theory as any other. Many would wish that it is an indicator of Japanese insiders who have heard about an SL II version of this lens.

I don't know, but I would rather put my money on an overall bad economic situation in Japan (people need cash).

Thank you for your valuable contribution. This is a previously unknown serial number range, 9122*** which, if confirmed with higher serials in the same range, will somewhat raise the estimate of total production volume of all Macro APO Lanthars (9121*** and 9122*** serial ranges contain mixed mounts).

I can follow that argument Vilhelm, as I haven't heard any reliable rumors about a SLII version of it.

Second digit is year of manufacture, in Your case 2001.

Another Voigtländer belonging to a new forum member, 180mm f/4 APO Lanthar in Nikon N/AI-S mount serial 93310**. This is one of the last 180/4 lenses that rolled out of the Cosina factory, one of less than 1,000 copies manufactured in Nikon mount.
