At the end of the weekend I have here 2 pictures of my new toy which I could grab yesterday in a second hand shop for 9 Euros. It is a Vivitar f:8/600mm in good condition. The serial number starts with 37..., I believe it was manufactured by Tamron.
I couldn´t test this lens because I have at present no T2 to EOS converter and the M42 converter was not so suitable. So I have only one picture crosswise through my garden. It seems really sharp for a lens with 2 glasses.
There was a funny situation when I bought this lens. Beside the second hand shop is another shop with italian ice cream. Due to the fine weather a lot of people were sitting outside and ate their ice cream. Many of them started to laugh when I came out of the shop with this thing under my arm. Oh poor boy.
Thanks for viewing.

I´m not sure because I have to pay around 20 Euros for the T2-EOS adapter.
Anyway I can use this adapter also for other lenses in the future. By the way the second hand shop has also another lens as a special offer. I hope I remember correct it is a Sun Optic or Optical. It is a zoom from 190 to 560 or similar for
12 Euros.

It might be cheaper, and better in the long run, to buy two adapters - an M42-EOS adapter and a T2-M42 adapter. That way you could mount M42 AND T2 mount lenses Plenty on ebay _________________ Graham - Moderator

And i found my 600 cheap at €50
The Vivitar 600mm is a nice big tele, the only problem for me is that it will not focus close enough to do small birds with
Maybe some day you will find the 8/800mm for some € 13 _________________

I bought a T2-M42 adapter for a couple of pounds. It can be shipped in an envelope, too - there's literally nothing to break in it _________________ List of lenses |
