Which you would consider the most quieter film SLR (from the ones you experieced with) ?
Thanks.
For me is the Zenit E (maybe the cloth shutter is the reason?) and then Pentax P50/P30 (seems to have about the same noise as amplitude but different).
The most louder is the Porst Reflex TL (M42). _________________ Canonet QL17 III

I'm not sure which is the quieter SLR that I had - maybe the Yashica FX2 which is now owned by Jesito.
I surely know which is NOT the quieter one though - my Praktica FX2 (curiously, same name as Yashica model!). Every time that I click the shutter, it sounds like if I let a 30kg cassette full with metal bolts fall on an aluminium empty floor. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Yes, I noticed so, it's very quiet.
The Zenit 122 is the noisiest I've had in hands.

My pentax MX is my quietest SLR, very soft sound. The olympus OM series is very quiet in the mechanical era. After om2n it gets a bit louder. The om2s forward has a secondary mirror and so a bit more noise. I guess it is also very safe to say for motor drive SLR cams. The Contax RX and Aria are very quiet. |

Back in the day it was the Retina Reflexes. Mine was always remarkably quiet. Broken now, poor things.
These days, possibly the Contaflex. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Yup, my Olympus OM-1n is a pretty quiet camera for one that has a moving mirror. It's a good little camera for candids. _________________ Dann Fassnacht

My Olympus E-1 - it got a lot more quiet after 60,000 shots or so. I had a second E-1 for a while but never used it because it was loud in comparison. |

I don't know why my E-1 got quieter but it was definitely very different from the newer one. More dust cushioning the mirror? Unless it's close to breaking... I kept the old one, and sold the new one... |
