Last weekend I went to a Butterfly Release Festival, a day long children’s festival out in the Texas Hill Country with games, butterfly release every half hour, great food and music of all sorts.

Here is one shot of the Hill Country Suzuki players doing a little Mozart at the festival. My youngest, Hannah, is the one in the middle. (Jupiter-9)

Here’s another one of Hannah, deep shade with the dreamy CZJ 58mm wide open.

Of course there were butterflies. (Jupiter-9)

Cheers Y'all

Jules

Jules, it is always a treat when you post here (wish you did it more often! Wink ) and this is yet another lovely set. First one is
simply superb, I love B&W anyway, but talk about perfect exposure, well-caught! #2 is a great candid, and yes, the bokeh!
How long did that butterfly stay on her nose in #3? Just long enough
for the picture? BTW, who catches all these butterflies?

Thanks for sharing,

Bill

Bill,
Thanks so much. I don't post much because I get so few good shots, and I'm really picky!
I am a B/W lover also but I have to work at it to get it right..
#2 is a deep crop, almost a 100% blowup. I had to manipulate a bit.
The butterfly was an easy shot. They are released just after emerging from the cocoon and are pretty groggy so they land and stay put for any number of minutes.

Smoke, mirrors, and PS always work.

Jules

Jules, my mother taught strings at the high school, but also had kids orchestra for grades 6-9. When she retired, they closed down the string program at the high school, I think that money went over to the Athletics Dept, as such things go... I remember her taking courses to learn to teach
the Suzuki method, many years ago.

Thanks for the reminiscence.

And Jules, be less picky, OK? Wink

Jules
#3 is a once in a lifetime shot. This is a totally adorable collection - and I agree with the "dont be so picky" comment. Lovely series

I love #1, it's really a photo I could have taken myself, I love group photos with this kind of compositions, I always look for them!
I love, when seeing them, to move from face to face and to see the different reactions to a same moment. Smile

And of course I agree with the others on #3, what a precious capture!!

Thank you so much.

One almost can't miss with great looking kids (mostly all kids are great looking kids anyway) doing interesting things and good lenses.

Thank you guys for making me aware of the world of manual lenses. It's just amazing the quality available for a few dollars.

Cheers

Jules
