had to pull the trigger on this

Click here to see on Ebay

I think the cheaper Contax SLRs are definitely worthwhile, especially for those that have a number
of lenses in M42 mount. The adapters are cheap (around $7) flange-less, like the $30 Pentax OEM,
and the cameras' meters still work!

I'm going to put some new clothes on this one and the 137MA I have:

one will have the Ostrich leather

and the other will have the green lizard

I may rethink the color choices of both before ordering. Wink

Prices are $14 each for the kits, plus $8 for reseal kits (pre-cut, each kit can do 3 cameras)

I was looking at one at the last camera fair, worse leather than that ebay one, but the camera itself was perfect. I'd spent more than I should by the time I saw it so I resisted. I think it was only £25 as well.

I can definitely recommend the 137MA and I'm sure the 137MD will have no surprises, the seller assures
me. The leather was their one weak point, cheaply corrected. Wink

Not neccessarily, sometimes they age nicely.

@Kans, yes, some 'mature' better than others. My 137MA has all the outer coating off,
revealing a grey denim look that's actually nice to handle.

Tony, the 137s have built-in winders, thinking about a red leather now, too. Smile Thanks!

Agree, I think it would look good in red:

"Blue Contax .." .. isn't that a David Lych movie?

PostPosted: Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:28 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Klaus, thanks!

Kans, it depends in what Contax (heheh) you're speaking in. I did like that movie, though, Hopper, you're
missed.

Maybe we could get group counseling. I really like the green lizard too.

The blue is outstanding on that camera, Bill.

I'm not surprised the pink scaly one was a bonus - I'd suppose sales on that were a bit... disappointing.
Perhaps he's giving them away in the hope they'll get noticed and people's wives and g/fs will order them, and go some way to clearing the two railroad cars full of them round the back of his house.

Laurence, maybe on a chrome camera it wouldn't be so bad...naw. Laughing

Dave, that was exactly dead center what I was thinking, too. Wink

That is for sure!
Do you dare to leave the house with that camera in your hands?
Nothing useful for street photography IMO, too obtrusive.
At least I wouldn't have the guts to take it out of the camera bag Laughing Laughing Laughing
