I bought this camera in 'unknown' stage. Result ?
Scratch free lens , little fungus, haze inside. Camera works perfect 1/1250= 1/988 , fastest speed what I did measure ever on a pre-war camera. Laughing Laughing

Congratulations!

My grandfather's Contax-II is also from 1937 and it's still a great camera, taking very fine pictures, after an adventurous life in World War 2 (Russian campaign, 1941-43) and a long, post-war use.

Its cosmetical condition is quite far from what a collector would like to see, but I wouldn't give it away for any sum!

Best wishes,

E.L.

I can confirm based on my experience, I have 1951 Stuttgart version , that was entirely dead when I bought it.
Now it is in superb condition thank for Charles who made Cla'd on it.

Excellent to have the history of it. I'm sure some of the anonymous cameras I've bought over the 'net have a tale or two to tell, but they're lost forever.

I see some brassing here and there, you should send it to me so I can examine it more closely. Wink Smile

Is it my imagination, or was the chrome plating better in the 1950's models ?

Once you will here you able to examine it Wink I have both type camera 1951 Stuttgart model and this older. This one is used a lot, other was in storage only. 1951 has better chrome finish for sure.

Or...send it to me and I'll make sure the Sonnar lens meets my 'specifications'. I promise that I would send it
back after my inspection unless I lost it or something. Laughing
